Muz continues his strong form

Mario 'Muz' Magrin finished first in the Moruya Pigeon Racing Club's fourth race of the season.

The Moruya Pigeon Racing Club held its fourth race of the season on Monday, June 11.

The club usually races on Saturday’s, but inclement weather led to the slight delay. Monday was still a miserable day, but the winds from the weekend had died down.

Manny (Gozo) Byrne drove 150 pigeons to Greenwell Point (east of Nowra), and released them at 9.15am. This marked the longest flight for most of the competing birds.

The pigeons will race from Greenwell Point for the next two weekends, before heading even further north.

Mario (Muz) Magrin got lucky, with his birds arriving home in the rain to finish in first place.

Darcy (River Cottage) Hoyer had better results this week, coming second after a tough race last week.

Bruce (C.C.) King grabbed third.

The members lofts are spread across more than 60 kilometres of land. There was only 40-metres-per-minute between first-and-fifth place, a very close race in pigeon racing terms.
