The four million litre concrete reservoir will service the Bermagui township and represents a 60 per cent increase in storage capacity.
This reservoir is a key component of council’s long-term water supply strategy for Bermagui and has been constructed on council owned land, which was acquired for this purpose more than a decade ago.
The elevation of this particular site was chosen to enable a significant increase in water pressure to the higher areas of Bermagui.
The significant capacity increase of the reservoir will also enable the use of off-peak pumping to reduce ongoing operational costs.
Upgrade works to the water supply network are being completed simultaneously with the reservoir coming into service.
