Bodalla Park Drive, Bodalla has had the speed limit of 50km/h increased to 60km/h after residents lobbied to have it changed, saying that it was too slow for the 3.8 km length of Bodalla Park Drive, from the Princes Highway to the end of the road.

Prior to being a 50km/h speed limit, Bodalla Park Drive was an unmarked 100km with numerous wildlife corridors crossing the unlit stretch of road.
Although estate residents had been requesting a speed review on the road for many years they were not prepared for a 50km/h limit.
Eurobodalla Shire councillor, James Thomson said that he had been approached on numerous occasions about having the limit raised.
“I fielded various inquiries about the speed limit and although residents appreciated the safety aspect most thought it was out of line with other rural roads.
“I approached council staff about having the speed camera put on the road to help resolve the speed issue and they in turn approached Roads and Maritime Services (RMS),” he said.
The RMS carried out a review of the speed limit on Bodalla Park Drive saying the review assessed a number of factors including roadside development, traffic patterns, intersection locations and crash data.
“It was determined a 60km/h speed limit was appropriate due to minimal pedestrian activity, spacing of driveway access and the lack of recorded crash history along the length of the road,” a spokesperson for RMS said.
“As a result, the existing 50km/h speed limit will be increased to 60km/h.”
The speed zone change came into effect on last Monday.
Temporary changed traffic conditions signs are in place on Bodalla Park Drive to advise motorists of the new reduced speed limit.
