The club explored along Armatage Road on Thursday, July 5, and hiked up Shingle Hut Road and Wild Horse Creek Road on Saturday, July 7.
Both these areas have active farms looking after beef and dairy cattle. The enjoyment of walking in the forest overlooking the farms made both walks a treat and made us appreciate the farmers who keep these properties.
The Armatage Road walk was led by Maggie Finch, a seven-kilometre trek with Gulaga in the background.
Shingle Hut Road follows the edge of the farms, and fords James Creek before climbing up a ridge to provide farm views, with Gulaga again providing the background.
Leaving Shingle Hut Road, we crossed James Creek again, and the old logging trail took us to Wild Horse Creek Road.
We followed the road to Punkally Creek, where we thanked Michael Mc Donagh for this lovely 10-kilometre bushwalk.
