The team had a solid 24-14 win at home last Sunday over third placed Eden Tigers but after a break of a few weeks they were a bit rusty with too many errors and some poor kicking.
Tries were scored by Matt Parsons (2), Blake Cavanagh and Dillon Smith with 4 conversions by Clyde Parsons. Best for the young Devils were Dillon Smith, Matt Parsons, Javana Fereti and Marcus Lonsdale.
The Reserve Grade Devils look to have fifth place sewn up for the semis but couldn’t hold out the third placed Merimbula Bulldogs going down 34-12 on Sunday. They were in the game at half time only trailing 12-10 but couldn’t keep the momentum going in the second half. Try scorers were Stewart Davison and Chris Fernando with the reliable Charlie Nye kicking both conversions.
Best for the Ressies were Nick Hoskins, Rhys Pearcey, James Nye and Toby Youlton. They have a bye this weekend then into the semi-finals!
The She-Devils League Tag girls played the second placed Eden Tigrettes but went down 24-4. The girls put in their best efforts but Eden had the edge in attack and defence. Renee Hoare scored a great try in the second half and played really well. Best for the She-Devils were Renee, Wrylka Colburn, Hayley Talanoa and Pirili Kay-Thorpe. The girls can’t make the semis but will give their best against the Bay next week.
Come to Batemans Bay next Sunday and support the Devils. Under 18s play at 11am, Ladies Tag at 2pm and 1st Grade at 3pm.
