A group in flowing red dresses, and long dark tresses, wistfully danced across several locations as part of “The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever”, an international event of solidarity against violence towards women.
Local organiser Mica Lynnah said, despite it being the Bega Valley’s first time joining in and not knowing what to expect, the day went very well.
“I had no idea it would look so stunning and be so successful,” Ms Lynnah said.
“It’s all really hip cities doing this – Melbourne, Montreal, Lyon...so I say we’re hip!
“Next year we’ll be going bigger and better – and maybe do some fundraising for the Domestic Violence Network.”
While the relevance of Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights song and music video to violence against women is a little shrouded in the foggy moors, Ms Lynnah said the day’s events around the world were an ideal conversation starter.
“The message sometimes struggles to get across, but when people stopped to ask what we doing, we explained what it was all about.
“I feel the waters are really stirred up right now on it [violence towards women], so this was timely.”
