Lynne Ford, who runs the Bermagui Fishermen’s Wharf Growers Market had the idea to let the kids raise some holiday funds selling their produce or creating items to sell.

On Tuesday morning the hall was buzzing by 9am with more than 30 stalls and busy kid vendors setting up tables, filling baskets with citrus and herbs, laying out cup cakes and much more.

The purpose was to raise some funds for the cracked and tired Bermagui netball courts. It did much more than this.

At first there was the enthusiasm and build up to the day as kids worked out their stall idea. There was baking, harvesting, painting and even the old toys and book cull.

Sisters Issy and Tilda, 8, were selling delicious sausage rolls and lemon butter. Next to them was Ava Baker, 8, selling her range of timber earrings designed by her called Cherry Bomb.

Flynne, 9, Ishka, 6, and Phoebe, 12 had hessian sacks covered in beautiful produce like macadamia nuts, jams, chillies, limes and citrus, herbs and exotic bantam eggs.  Rita Hanlon, 7, had made air-dry clay birds and pots for her stall. 

Bermagui Preschool with its focus on sustainability and love of nature had beeswax wraps, leather bookmarks and succulents all handmade by the children.

The old lemonade stalls were popular alongside cupcakes, and slime for sale, loom bracelets, scented candles, canvas artworks and plants. 

Just like an adult market, but each stall had a child naming prices and working out change.

Ms Ford, reeling at the huge success, said she will be running another kids market sometime soon.
