“We have another winner,” was the excited response of Quotarian Carolyn Anderson, after the club’s second entrant in three years took the top regional prize.
“Seven representatives of the Quota Club travelled to Goulburn on Saturday to support the Moruya High School student in the quest,” Mrs Anderson said.
“Her mother and grandparents also were there to see her overcome the stiff competition from students from Edmund Rice College, Wollongong; Picton High School, St Gregory’s College, Campbelltown; Good Samaritan Catholic College, Liverpool; Mt Carmel Catholic College, Ingleburn; and Sapphire Coast Anglican College, Bega.
“Stephanie was last to be interviewed by the three judges and to present her public speaking section. To us in the audience her speech was by far the best presentation.
“The judges were unanimous in their decision to award the contest to Stephanie.
“Stephanie was presented her award by Quotarian June Young OAM who is the chairperson of the Regional Student of the Year Quest.”
In June, Stephanie won the Batemans Bay leg of the contest, with a powerful speech about wanting to walk without fear.
“Stephanie has now brought the second win in just a couple of years to the Batemans Bay Quota Club and to the Eurobodalla Shire following Elise Toyer who won the Quest in 2016,” Mrs Anderson said.
“What a great achievement and a great pat on the back to the educators in this area who are producing these wonderful students.”
