South Coast and Country Quilters biannual show at Ulladulla September 21-22-23

More than 150 quilts from throughout the South Coast will be on display at the South Coast and Country Quilters biannual show.

This year the show will be held in Ulladulla at the Civic Centre on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, September 21-22-23.

This year the show is being hosted and organised by the Nowra Quilters.

Show co-ordinator Dorothy Hanbridge said they are looking forward to a wonderful three days.

“We will have more than 150 quilts on show,” she said.

“South Coast and Country Quilters has more than 500 members between Kiama to Dalmeny.

“There will definitely be something for everyone - quilts and wall hangings of all sizes, designs and colours - a huge variety.

“And there will be different types of quilts – hexagons, patterns, applique, braided are all likely to feature – the variety will be endless  - I doubt there will be two the same.

“This year is shaping up to be a great event.”

The South Coast and Country Quilters have been holding their biannual show since 2004.

All money raised goes back to South Coast charities.

“We work it in a way that each regional group within the South Coast and Country Quilters gets a percentage of the profits from the event,” Mrs Hanbridge said.

“The number of quilts each region provides for the show dictates how much of the profit they receive.

“It is then up to each individual group as to what charity they donate to - we all support different charity groups.”

The show will be held at the Ulladulla Civic Centre from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Friday and Saturday and from 9.30am to 3pm on Sunday.

Entry is just $5.

“There will also be fabulous craft, fabric and pattern stalls available and there will also be quilting, applique and needle felting demonstrations throughout the show,” Mrs Hanbridge said.

A stunning king-sized quilt will also be up for grabs as a superb raffle prize.

Locally the Nowra Quilters meet at the North Nowra Community Centre each Tuesday from 9am to 1pm and new members are always welcome.

“We are a friendly group of women who all have a common interest in quilting,” Mrs Hanbridge said.

“As you can hear we are very social, there is as much conversation going on about quilting or other common interest as there is sewing taking place.

“But we are all doing something.”
