Another sunny Monday with the usual cool breeze for the 35 bowlers and our Melbourne visitor Jim Knock-out Stan swinging due to the expert (his words) card preparation by Pres. Cobber Peter but left the rest of the organising to Punter Alan which surprise, surprise saw secret ends again as the game decider with the winners on 11 in Shark Finn, Cobber Dudley and Alan from the runners-up after a 3-way countback on 8 in Hottie Jones, Bluey Ralph and gospeller Bob. Bernie took out the resting toucher but the $100 jackpot was unclaimed.

The wrong-bias sinners included Snoopy Leigh and a big 4 to a bigger Illya who is now looking for some campers to help pay the fine while the raffle winners were Emberly Footmark, big John Oarley, Account Cartwright and Pat, Ron, Jim or Harold.
Perfect conditions for 22 Thursday bowlers, numbers being down due to people being away or otherwise committed to bowling tournaments, with Snoopy Leigh handing over the reins to our Garry who organised, would you believe, once again, secret ends as the game decider for the winners on 11 in Mayoress Olwyn, Dine-back Brooker and Top Card Ace from the runners-up on 6 in Cobber Dudley, Laughing Lloyd and the Goose.
Ex.PM Neil scored the first resting toucher with his 2nd bowl of the day but the $100 jackpot was not won. Lakes Entrance visitor Brian Disney-ers and Hi-ain’t MacGregor were the only wrong bias sinners while the raffle prizes went to Olwyn, a reluctant Hottie Jones (2) sending it on for Richard Badrim, Lois, Chef Keith and Lloyd.
Sadly Friday was life’s end for a great mate, club stalwart, bowler and fisherman and true friend, Joey Cootes. He had the great distinction of being known as the Cootamundra mayor and a bloke who would do anything or give a helping hand to anyone. He was one of a kind and will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.
The semi-final round of the 3-bowl mixed doubles event saw the Foot-sen couple Chris and Finn left Mayoress Olwyn and Cobber Peter in their wake after being behind 2/1 at the 2nd end, they shot away to lead 16/2 at the 8th, 22/7 at the 13th end before a 8/5 finish over the last 6 ends saw them clear winners 30/12 at the 19th end. There was a report that the unnecessary 20th end (played only to get the bowls back to the bags) saw Finn and Chris score another 3 to prove their point but the score was deemed not necessary to put on the card.
The other match had Chef Keith and Hook-ara Pearce against the Smiths, Jan and Bernie, and after a good start were leading 5/2 at the 4th end but Jan and Bernie evened things up, 6-all at 7, 9-all at 10 and 10-all at 12 before Barbara and Keith got going again to lead 13/10 at the 14th end where they hit a wall scoring only 1 shot while the Smiths scored 10 for a fine 20/14 win at the 21st end.
Well done to all players and come along next week to see our best two couples play off in what should be a keenly contested final.
Narooma Women
Nineteen social bowlers turned out for some ‘mad Tuesday” fun last week. A Joe’s special was organised for three rinks of two bowl triples, where Lorraine Mitchell and Maureen Findlay shared their game. A twist was added with teams playing a versatility challenge, when team members played in each position for seven ends. Winners for the day were lead Gail Palmer, second Marg Naylor and skip Annette Linney. The resting toucher prize also went to Annette, having earlier won the meat tray raffle, kindly donated by Rapley’s Meats, completed the trifecta – well done Annette. Clare Cork won the 50Club draw.

Wednesday Men’s Triples
A week can be a long time in bowls and the wind blew the results out of the park with the Highest Winning Margin going to the losers from last week, with ‘Cobby’, ‘Scotty’ and Jim Grant 41-8 winners over Donny Caldwell, Nev Cork and Gregory Riley.
Resting Toucher went to ‘Stacky’ Cummins.
Saturday Men’s Jackpot
From one extreme to the other, with the few bowlers who braved the very cold change having only one winner with ‘Wazza’, Ian ‘Shorty’ Smart and Carl Lee narrow two point winners over C.Campbell, Dennis Maggs and Paul Naylor 22-20.
Sunday Mixed Social
Another cold but sunny day for the Sunday bowls but everyone enjoyed a good day on the green. We had 20 players with 2 triples and 2 pairs games. Winners were decided by highest winning score with Warren Bender and Ray Gale (skip) coming from 10 to 12 behind after 11 ends to take the match 29 to 14.
Next Sunday (22nd ) is Dalmeny Deviates Day so put your name down for their charity day.
Far South Coast Womens Bowls
F.S.C.D.W.B.A. held their annual Nader Shield on Thursday and Friday, September 13 and 14 September at Malua Bay. What a great two days of bowls and friendship. Individual winners were the singles Tuross Head, the pairs Malua Bay, the triples Narooma and the Fours Tomakin. The overall winners of the Shield were Tuross Head.

We have a brand new committee. Nardie Hardie is our new President, Sue White Vice President, Pat Wagstaff 2nd Vice President, Monica Mulcahy is the Secretary, Beth Wittington is the Treasurer and Pat Manning is Chairman of Match.
Tuesday, September 11 was a perfect day for Bowls with two games of Triples. 1st Game: Lee Clarkson, Beth Wittington and Pat Manning def Roz Greenhalgh, Beth Wittington and Judy McRae. 2nd Game: Dawn Callender (double lead) Margaret Sillett/Pat Tunstall and Joan Lotz def Dawn Callender (double lead) Sue White and Marcia Gerrey
Winner of the day was Dawn Callender Margaret Sillett/Pat Tunstall and Joan Lotz. Pat Wagstaff won the raffle.
