Uniting also provided funds in 2014/15 which allowed Monty’s to refurbish the kitchen.
Monty’s Place Committee Chair, Barry Flanagan, thanked Uniting for their generous support.
“Monty’s Place values greatly our strong relationship with Uniting,” he said.
“Monty’s Place and Uniting share the common purpose to help the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in our community”.
Ms Ann Murphy, from Uniting, said Monty’s Place was a fantastic example of Uniting values at work.
“Monty’s is inclusive, welcoming and fun," she said.
“You hear lots of people say ‘Meet you at Monty’s.’”
Monty's cooked up a storm to celebrate its fourth birthday in 2017.
With the improved kitchen, Monty’s has recently been able to welcome more cooks and food preparation volunteers into the kitchen to share the task of providing a delicious and nutritious two course lunch to those in need in Narooma.
Monty’s Place averages around 60 guests each week, with this figure growing to over 100 guests on special occasions, including Christmas.
Sometimes the guests themselves have been special, such as a 101-year-old adventurer.
Volunteer Coordinator Di White would love to see more volunteers in all areas (setting up, waiting table and cleaning up).
If you are interested in joining Monty’s fabulous team, come to lunch and see what we do, or contact Di White on 0448 464 468 or at dianne.white1@bigpond.com.
The Monty’s Place lunch is on from 12.00-1.30pm every Wednesday at the Uniting Church Hall in Narooma, just next to the water tower.
Monty’s Place thanks all its wonderful sponsors and volunteers for their amazing support, and don’t forget that Monty’s 5th Birthday party is on Wednesday, October 31.
