The vibrant artwork, which adorns the rear wall of Narooma Motors, is the work of artist Scott James, who has spent hours over the past three months recreating the scene from the Dr Seuss story, The Lorax.
The Mystery Bay artist said the mural was based on the popular children’s story, which warns of the consequences of not taking care of the environment.
“It tells the story of not looking after our planet, which is an important story to tell,” Mr James said.
The artwork is Mr James’ biggest project, which he expects to complete next week after adding a few finishing touches and some extra characters.
“It was a touch daunting when I started it, but it worked out really well. I really enjoyed doing it,” he said.
As the mural has been taking shape, Mr James said it had already been catching the eyes of passersby.
“People love it. I’ve heard from someone who walks down the alley and she said it just makes her day every time she walks past it,” he said.
“I’ve seen people taking photos of their kids in front of it – it’s going to be an attraction.”
