Treasurer Jon King led the day’s proceedings with president Paul Naylor delivering a heartfelt speech about the day the “War to end all wars, had reached its bloody end”.
Narooma’s Gillian Kearney read the “Ode for the Poppy” before Eurobodalla Shire Council Mayor Liz Innes officially opened the memorial avenue.
The avenue runs for three kilometres along the shared pathway from Duesburys headland to the duck ponds at Dalmeny.
Cyprus pines line the avenue and it will have wooden benches, made by the Narooma Men’s Shed, along the walk for people to rest and reflect.
There will also be a number of plaques describing some of the battles that Australian soldiers were involved in.
Mr Naylor thanked Eurobodalla Shire Council for its help.
