The acoustics are fantastic, and just right for the kind of music we sing.
- Lada Marcelja
Conducted by Philip Hartstein, the popular choir sang works by Thomas Tallis, Thomas Tomkins and Edward Elgar.
There was a special performance of the lament from Henry Purcell’s Did by choir soprano Meg Gordon.
President Lada Marcelja said the beautiful church was the perfect venue.
“The acoustics are fantastic, and just right for the kind of music we sing,” she said.
“We do four concerts a year, including our upcoming Christmas service.”
The choristers included Helen Ryan, Robyn Miller, Meg Gordon, Lada Marcelja, Chris Franks, Nanda Taylor, Linda Tucker, Max Tucker, Philip Hartstein, Helen Heritage, Robin Scott-Charlton, Elizabeth Kerr, Kathy Smith, Elizabeth Oliver-Hawkey, and Narelle Farmer.
Ms Mrcelja said rehearsals for the December 14 ‘Nine Lessons and Carols’ service – featuring seasonal music and traditional carols – will begin next week, and new choristers were welcome.
