Eurobodalla Shire Council environmental services manager Deb Lenson said access times were developed with extensive community input, and were aimed at improving responsible pet ownership.
“Eurobodalla is a dog-friendly area where dogs are allowed on leash unless there is signage to indicate otherwise,” Ms Lenson said
“Our beaches are for everyone, and council has endeavoured to strike a balance for dog owners and their pets and for those who do not want to interact with dogs.
“Residents and visitors can expect to see increased ranger presence over summer, but we also need the help of all dog owners and community members to inform us when there is obvious flouting of the rules.”
The timeshare arrangements came into effect on November 1: Dogs are only allowed in the respective on-leash or off-leash areas before 9am and after 5pm, and are prohibited between 9am and 5pm, as sign-posted on beaches.
Meanwhile, changes to dog-exercise areas in open space other than beaches will not come into effect until May 2019, outlined in the Companion Animal Management Plan.
