The Shepherds came to Australia from New Zealand in 1972 and moved to Narooma in 1975.
The couple have two daughters – Debbie and Jo, two grandchildren and one great grandson.
“It was entrapment,” Ken said. “When Sheryl first saw me, she told her girlfriend ‘that’s the guy I’m going to marry’ and she did,” he said.
Ken worked as a builder for most of his life, while Sheryl spent 21 years working for Narooma Hardware.
Mr Shepherd is also one of the original members of the Dalmeny Deviates.
“For those who don’t know, the Dalmeny Deviates are group of blokes who began playing touch football together in 1978 and have stuck together ever since.”
The Dalmeny Deviates are renowned for giving to the community.
“I’d like to thank the people of this town for putting up with us for 45 years, it’s such a great community.”
