The Eurobodalla will shower Cobar farmers with cash, after the Eurobodalla Shire Council voted to donate 75 per cent of $44,065 raised at shire Raindance events last month.

The remaining 25 per cent will go to drought-affected Eurobodalla producers.
Mayor Liz Innes proposed the funds be split 50-50 between the two shires at the December 11 council meeting.

However, Councillor Patrick McGinlay suggested the portion sent to Cobar be increased. Councillor Phil Constable seconded the move.
“I’m cognisant of the need to support our farmers, but it is a terrible situation in Cobar right now,” Cr Constable said.
Councillor Lindsay Brown said he felt the 75-25 split better reflected community expectations.
“I know a lot of support in my community was for money to go to Cobar,” he said.
“It’s a wonderful gesture from our community – Narooma punched above it’s weight.”
Councillor Jack Tait said it was the spirit of the gesture that counted.
“I think we’re losing the point – the fact we are going to give something is what we set out to do,” he said.
“The percentage doesn’t matter.”
