Wednesday was a pleasant overcast day and a fine roll up of 48 bowlers were keen to show their wares.
Winners were decided by highest winning margin with the winners being Peter James, Tony Gors and Peter Dillon (skip) who jumped out to a commanding lead after 11 ends and continued their fine form to win their match 30 to 11 against an unlucky team of Don Caldwell, Greg Riley and Jim Grant (skip). Runners up were Bob Murphy.

Narooma Women
A near perfect Autumn-like day for bowls last Tuesday, with a fluctuating breeze which made ‘getting the right grass’ interesting.
Bowlers participated in four games of triples and the team winning with the lowest score to win the money.
In what proved to be a very close finish Auralia Robinson, Heather McGourty and Leila Gosper won by one shot on the last end against Carol Douglas, Sue Bender and Gail Palmer.
Second prize to Betty Greenshields, Jenny Coulson and Sandra Breust with a margin of two against Coral Read, Isabel Halsey and Merrie Downie.
The ladies who have been visiting from Thirroul and Campbelltown departed at the weekend. It has been a lot of fun to welcome them to our club recently and we hope to see them again next year.
Raffles were won by Maureen Findlay, Lorraine Mitchell, Sue Bender and Barb McNamara. Barbara also had a birthday last Friday and we hope you enjoyed your day. The final of the Minor Singles is due to be played tomorrow.
Dalmeny Men
Results for week ending March 3
Monday’s clear skies were appreciated by our 36 players where our winners were decided by the ‘points’ system and they were on 211/2 points were Steal Coulson and Bruce Cover-outs and Barry Leginter with the runners up on 191/2 points being Dick’s son Ian, Adam’s boy Kenny and Pete Hit-Holden.
The first resting toucher went to Can’s son Pete but the $100 jackpot was not won and the wrong bias sinners were Punter Alan, Ian (twice), President Pete and Roy Falkiner. The raffles went to Mayor Brian, the Can-son boy, Danny Boy and Basho.
A somewhat depleted number of 24 missed out on Thursday’s fine conditions which saw the return of the highest winning margin for the winners on 23 in Roy Falkiner, President Pete and Chef Keith from the runners-up on 20 in the Footsen couple Chris and Finn and the violin playing comic’s boy Kenny.
The resting toucher went to Chris but the $107 jackpot will jackpot again. The only wrong bias sinner is our Ex.PM Neil while the raffle winners were Chris (again), Smokey Dawson, Punter Alan (twice) but sending round again for Ian East-off, Hi-ain’t MacGregor and Mayor Brian.
Friday night twilight bowls attendances continue to grow with 32 bowlers enjoying the weather, some in their favourite football team jumpers which indicated the Bunnies numbers are still in plague proportions despite a lone Tiger, a dragon Cap, a couple of Roosters and the surprise turn-up of the one and only Reg Reagan who didn’t stop shaking, bumping, moving and looking to bring back the biff with all and sundry.
The winners were John Oarley and Buzz Saw from the runners-up a returning Sean S-Camp, Debbie B-perch and Graham or Brett. The first resting toucher went to Buzz while Tan-back Hicks took away the $10 Southern Euro Plumbing lucky draw and Jye won the 2 free coffees from Down 2 Earth Coffee.
Thanks again to our two outside sponsors and the Dalmeny Men’s Bowling Committee. The Friday twilight game is open to all over the age of 12, both male and female, so come along and for $10 entry (bowls supplied) enjoy two hours of fun and prizes. Please get your names down on the sign-up sheets by 4.45pm for the 5.30pm start.
The No.5 Pennants team had a win against Tuross Head winning 2/1 rinks and 9/1 points.
Well done team and with the next round at home why not come along and watch the fellas and give them the encouragement they deserve.
The semi-final round of the minor singles was played with Towelling Lewis up against The Shoeman Dave By-the Way who let Terry in for a 3 on the 1st end then countered by taking all but 1 of the next 9 ends to lead 11/5 but allowed Terry back into the game leading 15/14 at the 17th end before they went more or less shot for shot for Dave to lead 25/22 at the 25th end and hold his cool to finish a 32/26 winner at the 34th end.
Bruce Cover-outs scored a 4 at the 1st end in his match with Account Drury then went to sleep allowing Bill to lead 15/4 at the 8th end.
Bruce woke up and caught up to be only 15/14 down at the 15th end and the boys also went shot for shot with Bruce not out of it with the score 28/27 at the 33rd end before Bill had a 5/0 finish to win 33/27 at the 35th end.
Both matches were played in great spirit and the final next week between Bill and Dave should be a cracker well worth coming along and cheering them on.
