This week has seen the return of good size whiting in the river up towards Yarragee. Most anglers have been targeting these larger whiting with surface lures and shallow running crank baits in water no deeper then 800 millimetres, so it's no surprise there's been lots of nice size flathead being caught as by-catch.
Bream this week have been taking baits around the hole in the wall on the turn of the tides, with white bait being the stand out for most anglers.
The flats around Garland Town are still producing good fish this week, with early mornings and late afternoons being the more productive times for the whiting and bream, however mid-day sessions have been firing for tailor and nice size salmon.
Tuross River
Jewfish have been biting in the deep holes around the boat shed this week on fish bait. A couple of anglers did report multiple catches of jewfish using this bait and, as always, the turn of tide is key to getting these fish to bite.
This week has also seen good size bream landed using a variety of lures and baits, so it seems the bream are finally firing up.
Flathead have been up towards the highway bridge this week, so it's worth a look up around there if you're not finding the better-sized fish down the front.
Beaches
Windsock Beach has seen the return of flathead and salmon this week, however the bream and whiting are still not back in good numbers on these grounds.
Coila Beach and Meringo Beach have held up well this week, with most anglers reporting a healthy mixed bag of bream, whiting, flathead, and salmon.
A few of the local anglers also mentioned these beaches have been producing the odd nice jewfish at times, so if you're heading out to these areas, keep that in mind.
Good numbers of bonito are about both in close off the rocks and further offshore for the boaters.
Offshore
There has been bait for miles this week right along the coast line from Batemans Bay to Eden, making it hard to find the table fish.
For those who kept an eye on their sounders, they managed to find nice snapper, morwong, flathead, and kingfish.
If you managed to get to the bottom, there were good size flathead down underneath the snapper that were feeding up higher, and the morwong were there as well.
Kingfish have turned up this week and are holding on reefs around Pedro Point and South Head. They're good-sized fish, wish some pushing the 20-kilogram mark, but on average they're in the five-to-eight-kilogram range.
Squid are being caught in good numbers off Bingie.
