Winning lead Sue Bender, second Marg Naylor, skip Lorraine Mitchell. Second prizes to lead Cindy Newell, second Barb McNamara, skip Sandra Breust. The versatility challenge added a good variation to the games for a fun morning. Raffles won by Marg Naylor and Maureen Findlay. Major Singles
First rounds played on Thursday saw Leila Gosper and Dawn Kenny in a close contest, Dawn taking the match over the final stages. Janet Murphy played good bowls, however Gail Riley was ín the zone all day and had a good win. Club Dalmeny Men
A fine Monday saw a small group of 24 players under clear skies later clouded over about the time the winners were decided by the highest winning margin and on a very small number of 6 which required a 3-way countback resulting in the winners being the violin comic's boy Ken, Roy Falkiner and Emberly Footprint from the runners up in Steal Coulson, Truck Nagington and Barry Arminter. The first resting toucher went to Bruce Cover-outs and the $100 jackpot was not won. The wrong bias sinner was 3-times offender maybe on-starter Ex.PM Neil while the raffle prizes went to our Macedonian Illya, Truck, Pete Mur-100 and Garry L-rentacar.
Thursday's overcast cool conditions matched the low 28 bowlers who turned up and under Roy's control had the "points system" deciding the winners on 22 points in Meadow Lewis, Nan Maureen and Punter Alan who decided the 2-way countback for the runners-up on 201/2 points in the Mayoress Olwyn, Marg Ponder and Marg Joiner. Denice Pit-woman took out the resting toucher with her 2nd bowl and the $150 jackpot was won by 2 teams who obviously needed the money. The only wrong bias sinner was Meadow Lewis and the raffle prizes went to organiser Marg Ponder, Dine-back Streamer, Denice, Christine Foot-sen and Pete Mur-100.
Friday night twilight bowl's attendances was bolstered by the annual visit of the boys from Griffith up to 32 (thanks again fellas) and it was great to see that they were the winners on the night in BA and M4 Jeffrey from the runners-up in Sienna Don and Par Budin. The first resting toucher went to John V-err-L and Roy Falkiner took out the $10 Southern Euro Plumbing lucky draw while Sharon Or-Less won the 2 free coffees from Down 2 Earth Coffee. Thanks again to our 2 outside sponsors and the Dalmeny Men's Bowling Committee and with 2 more rounds before the season ending prize distribution and nibbles our usual Friday twilight game is open to all over the age of 12, both male and female, so come along and for $10 entry (bowls supplied) enjoy 2 hours of fun and prizes but please get your names down on the sign-up sheets by 4.45pm for the 5.30pm start.
The No.5 Pennants team sadly didn't have the away win against Tuross Head that was needed to keep them in touch with Tuross in the run to the end of the season going down 3/0 rinks and 10/0 points which was not truly indicative of the closeness of the match with Tuross able to convert twice Dalmeny's 2-3 shots up to finish 1-2 shots up. Well done fellas and good luck in the remaining 2 games to maintain your 2nd placing.
The deferred final round of the minor singles, due to the annual Fishing Club v The Bowlers Charity Challenge, between The Shoeman Dave By-the Way and Account Drury with Dave finishing on top becoming our 2019 Minor Singles Champion in what was thought to be a close fought contest but turned out to be the opposite. Dave got off to a great start leading 10/3 after 8 ends and maintaining the pressure to lead 15/4 after 12, 21/6 after 18 and 31/7 on the 25th end in what Billy adroitly described as "Dave was just too good". Don't forget to get your names down for the Major Singles Championship to be drawn this week.
