Eighteen ladies played on Wednesday, March 13 for the March Monthly Medal and the winner was Fiona Hanks playing off a 34 handicap with a 75 nett on a countback from Bev Tyson (36) who was the division winner.

Runner up was Pat Jones (18) with 76 nett. Balls went to Maggie Hayes (6) and Jo Buttrey (24) both with 77 nett, Jan Heaver (29), Val Schilling (34) and Lynn Ponsford (17) all had 79 nett. Lesley Ashton (24) 80 nett and Vicki Hummel (33) with 81 nett.
Nearest the Pin on the 6th was Jo Buttrey and the 15th Lynn Ponsford. Least number of putts Pat Jones with 26.
Bermagui Social Golfers
Last Sunday we played our normal non-serious game of golf at the Bermagui Golf Course. The very non-serious Mal LeComte was the winner from Ian White. Carson Bennett was third and Jim Bryan fourth. NTP winners was Jim Bryan on the 11th. The most non-serious player was on a count back Charlie Bennett. Lucky player draw went to Kiwi Rowe and badge draw winner was Len Murphy, which was appropriate it being St Patrick's Day.
The winner of the Needs meat tray was Spud Sthruthers and veggie tray from Triple 777 went to a patron of the verandah admiring the view of the ocean. Bermagui Pizza voucher went to Graeme Gunn and the bottles of wine donated by the Pub went to Mal LeComte and Charlie Bennett. Thanks to our sponsors the Bermagui Beach Hotel, Bermagui Pizza, Triple 7, and Needs Butchery.
We lost a foundation member last week. Barry Denini was well liked and we farewelled him on Tuesday. The funeral was well attended. RIP Barry.

Thursday, March 14 - Irish
Irish Four-ball split sixes Stableford sponsored by Bermagui member Benji Hanlon now living back home in Ireland. A game where friendships are tested on the final 6 holes when all 4 scores of the playing group are tallied together. The team of Brian Kenyon, Bruce Blair, Geoff Vercoe and Bill Beaumont survived a countback to win the Irish delights with a great score of 118.
They relegated the apparently more photogenic team of Ron Lye, Arthur Worthley, Derek Quinto and Derek Nash into second place who also finished on 118. One shot back for 3rd place on 117 was the team of Bob Paine, Bill McKenzie, Ross Simpson and John Moore. Balls awarded down to those teams on 115 points.
Saturday, March 16 - Stableford
The winner in A grade was Paul Revill (hcp 8) with a best of the day 37 points. Runner-up was Javana Fereti (hcp 2) on 35 points shading Derek Quinto (hcp 14) on 33. The B grade win went to Tim Holdsworth (hcp 18) with 35 points. Then came Ross Simpson on 34 and visitor John Moore on 32. David Barbour found form to take out the C grade win with 34 points. In second place after a countback was Rickard Sheather shading Peter Hisco both on 32 points.
Club News
In the Pennants semi-finals played on Sunday, March 17 our Bermagui Division 1 team lost to Tura Beach 5/0 at Pambula-Merimbula and our Division 2 team had a 4/0 win over Pambula-Merimbula at Narooma Golf Course. Both our teams have performed very well to reach the semi-finals and we now wish our Division 2 team all the best in the final round at Eden Golf Course on Sunday 24th March where they will meet the Bega team. Thursday, March 14
A field of 135 players enjoyed some interesting pin positions on a course which played to a consistent 71.
In A Grade Course Superintendent Brendan Warby knew the lay of the land in registering the best score of 39 points off his handicap of 8, followed by Bill Anderson one point further adrift with Shaun Dickson from Mollymook a further point back in third place.
In B Grade Rex Dunn continued his recent stellar form with the day's top score of 40 points off his handicap of 17.
Four players finished on 38 points, the countback favouring Robert Fretten from Avalon and Peter Jones ahead of Ross Giblett and Noel Fisher.
In C Grade John Matthews at last finished on top with 38 points off his handicap of 27, albeit on countback from Frank Clarke. Grahame Cooke filled the third position with 37 points on countback from Rod Holman.
The nearest-the-pin winners were Martin Bell from Mollymook on 3, Colin Holmes on 9, Terry O'Callaghan on 14 and Robert Sayers on 17 while the ball competition went down to all on 34 points.
Saturday, March 16
Less run after heavy mid-week rain resulted in a DSR of 72/73 for the field of 120 players. A Grade saw the best scores of the day where Doug Morey, off a handicap of 11, scored 40 points to win on countback from Bill Anderson, the latter's second runner-up position of the week. Laurie Holmes filled third place with 39 points on countback from Sue Simms from Murrumbidgee.
In B Grade Wendy Lowe continued her rich vein of form with 38 points off her handicap of 22, one point better than Bill Baker who headed Chris Eardley on countback to take third place.
C Grade was taken out by Wayne McMillan with 36 points off his handicap of 28, two points better than Norm Baxendale who edged out Cecile Foulsham from Killara on countback to take second place.
The nearest-the-pin winners were Michael Commins on 3, Richard Goodridge on 9 and Doug Morey on both 14 and 17, while the ball competition went down to 32 points with 19 home.
Narooma Ladies
On Monday, 11 a group of 11 ladies played a Stableford Competition and the winner was Tanya Desmond with 35 points playing off a handicap of 30. Balls went to 31 points.
On Wednesday, March 13 a field of 22 ladies played a Stroke Competition for the March Monthly Medal. The winner of the Monthly Medal and Division 2 was Kath Roberts (23) with a fine score of 70 nett. The winner of Division 1 was Meridie Banson (13) with 73 nett.
The winner of the Putting Competition was Sylvia Donohoe with 26 putts. The winner of the DPP was Chris Matthews. The NTP winners were: Val Spooner on 3rd Hole (Division 3), Kay Lawrence on 14th Hole (Division 1) and Chris Matthews on 17th Hole (Division 2). 8 Balls went to 79 nett.
A Stableford Competition was also played with a field of 11 ladies participating. The winner was Chris Matthews with 38 points. 3 balls went to 34 points.
Tuross Head Men
Tuross Head Country Club men's golf 4 Ball Best Ball team competition resulted in a win for Dave Gray, Reg Apps, Robert McDonell and Graeme Bell.
Played in conjunction with an individual single stableford round the group returned an excellent score of 89 points. Ross Hendy was the winner of the stableford competition with a high 41 stableford points with Reginald Apps filling second placing. Allen Gannon, Colin Houghton and Paul Pereira won the remaining vouchers with all players scoring 36 points.
Nearest the pins were won by;
A grade golfer Colin Houghton on the 4th hole with 8.95 m.
Colin was also closest on the 6th with 2.57 m.
Marty Booth was best on the 7th hole with 2.06 m.
B grade player Russell Taylor was awarded the 4th hole 3.2 m and Bruce Handley the 6th with a very close 35 centimetres.
Best of the C grade golfers was Herb Muriwai on the 4th with 2.3 m and he also won the 6th hole with 1.80 m.
The coming Saturday competition is a 6X6X6 stableford event.
Thursday's medley stableford competition was won by Bruce Lidbury with 41 points ahead of Colin Houghton with 38 points. Greg Smith and and Steve Johnston both finished with 37 points. Nearest the pins were won by Bruce Lidbury, Brad Doolan and Leonie Snodgrass.
Moruya Saturday
Moruya Saturday Golfers played a single medley stableford event with the following results. A Grade: 1st Jay Miles, 2nd Michael Ryan. B Grade 1st Richard Stanley, 2nd Noel Clulee. C Grade 1st Dave Hyndes, 2nd Jim Marsden. D Grade 1st Lynn Gibbs, 2nd Simon Perks. Golden Shot was won by Mick Wells. NTPs: 6th Hole Mick Fardy, Ian Keating, Warren McPhee, Billy Olmos. 10th Hole Greg Ganderton, Ray McDonnell, Martin Carlson. 12th Hole Graham Cowdroy, Margaret Douglas.
