THURSDAY 11th APRIL
Another very good field of 145 players enjoyed fine weather, interesting pin positions and slick greens with a resultant DSR of 73/72.
In fact, only four players played better than their handicap.
In A Grade Mark Anderson went round in one under par off his handicap of 3 to register the equal best score of the day of 40 points, three better than Barry Podmore who edged out Brendan Warby on countback to take second place on 37 points.
In B Grade Vice-Captain Peter Jones finally emerged victorious with 36 points off his handicap of 20, one better than Richard Easton and two better than Bob Bennett.
In C Grade Lionel Field continued his good recent form in recording 40 points off his handicap of 26, with Ian Lowe on 36 points and Mark Bartrop (his first placing) on 35 points well in his wake.
The nearest-the-pin winners were Rick Porter on 3, Colin Holmes on 9, Alan Butterworth from Tumbarumba on 14 and Graham Mumme on 17, while the ball competition went down to all on 32 points.
Worth special mention is Steve Richard's effort in scoring an eagle on 15 where he sank his second shot from a long way out to a very difficult pin position to register 6 points by dint of his two shots on the whole.
Unfortunately those six points formed a significant part of his overall score.
