On May 9th,10th and 11th, we ran a very successful and fun bowling carnival, where we welcomed bowlers from all over Victoria and NSW. The weather was kind, the greens were running well, the club looked great and the atmosphere was welcoming. NSSC provided generous sponsorship so the prizes were appreciated by the visiting bowlers. Dalmeny women provided great hospitality which was also appreciated by the visiting bowlers. It was a real team effort over many months which brought the carnival together so well, let's give ourselves a pat on the back.

It was good bowling at the friendly club.

CLUB DALMENY RESULTS w/e 12/5/2019

Another cloudless Monday which lasted for at least half the afternoon before they returned to cool things down for the 33 bowlers organised by a forgetful President Pete who just remembered to enter 6 names on the sheet and subsequently had the highest winning margin deciding the winners on an unbelievable 6 in Bruce Cover-outs, Cobber Dudley and Shark Finn from the runners-up on 3 in Paul Dav-ain't, Peter the Pom and Rip-f Aspaas. Tom's son Ken scored the first resting toucher and the $163 jackpot was not won. The wrong bias sinners were the Pom and Pres. Pete, Bruce and Ex.PM Neil while Ray Over-rod made a generous donation while the raffle prizes went to Bruce (twice) sending it on for Neil, Ian East-off, Pete Mur-100 and Mayor Brian.

There was no play on Thursday due to the Ladies Carnivals but those men partnering the women on Friday in the mixed pairs enjoyed themselves as did everyone with the usual Dalmeny weather for this carnival.

The final round of the major singles championship between Account Drury and Buzz B-perch is yet to be played so listen out for the game date to decide our 2019 major singles champion.

The championship pairs draw is out with games due to commence on or before the 19th May.

Last Tuesday 7 May was very cold early on for the twenty-one ladies attending social bowls, then turned into a spectacular sunny autumn day. Three rinks of triples and a pairs game were played and Jan Rapkins enjoyed the swinging lead challenge in her game. The winner was decided by two points being awarded to teams with the highest game score plus a point for each end won. Barb McNamara and Dawn Kenny won their game convincingly against Jenny Coulson and Jean Vos and were overall winners for the day.

Barb claimed the 'double' by winning the raffle prize, while Sue Wales won the second.

Happy birthday wishes to Leila Gosper for her special day yesterday.

Round one in the club pairs is scheduled for tomorrow good bowling to all.

Ladies please note that the lunch and members meeting arranged for next Tuesday 21st has been re-scheduled until Tuesday 18 June.

Social Bowls Winners' Circle

A summery Sunday had 18 bowlers ready to bowl as the men hosted all the women celebrating Mother's Day. With highest winning score being the decider first prize went to visitor Wilma Bingly, Steve Murane and Paul Read (skip) leading all the way for a good win against Leo Winter, Coral Read and Darrel Goodridge (skip).

Club Mixed Pairs

First and second rounds of the Club Mixed Pairs were played over the last two weeks with results being Sue Bender and Warren Bender defeated Helen Donovan and Keith Pickett 18 to 17. Leila Gosper and John Breust defeated Merrie Downie and John Downie 20 to 19. Denise Holman and Rod Holman defeated Sue Bender and Warren Bender 27 to 14.

Tuross Head Men's Bowls have staged another successful five-day May Carnival. While the numbers have declined over the years, those who did attend played some competitive bowls in a friendly atmosphere. The number of visitors has declined but the support from local players has been wonderful. Different events were played on each day starting on Sunday with mixed pairs and concluding on Thursday with a mixed medley.

While local players figured prominently in the money winners, the most successful players where Narooma's Keith Pickett and Bodalla's Paul Van den Heuvel. They won both the Open Pairs (Monday) and the Men's Pairs (Wednesday) and teamed with Narooma's Peter Hattam to finish second in the Open Triples (Tuesday)

Local teams dominated the Mixed Triples (Sunday) with Bruce and Denise Lidbury winning from Peter Macdonald and Rose Farrington and Sue and John Fahey. Noel and Rita Downie had the best last game result. Tuross' Joel Hilliard and Stuart Graham finished second in the Open Pairs while Dave Carter and Paul Douglas (Moruya) came third. John Fahey and Jim Macklan had the best last game.

The Open Triples winners on Tuesday was the team from Sale of Ray Kennedy, Bruce Melrose and Peter Gould. Jennie and Stephen Hogan teamed with Ken Franklin (all from Tomakin) finished third. Dave Johnston, Pat Miller and Dave Carter (Moruya) had the best last game score.

Pickett and Van den heuvel won the Men's pair on Wednesday from Tomakin's Chris O'Brien and Nick Tiyce. Locals Peter Macdonald and John Fahey came third The best last game was recorded by Bruce Lidbury and Peter Davies.

Local teams dominated the Mixed Medley on Thursday with the Chris Roxby, Marg Downey, Jim Macklan and Stan Peck very popular winners. Sharron Perry, Gail Page, Stuart Graham and Peter Davies finished second ahead of Peter and Lorrie Bird who teamed with Phil and Marlou Rollinson.

Fran O'Connell, Marcel Kors and Carol and Doug Williams had the best last game score.

Social Triples: Thursday, May 9. Thursday's winners were Phil Versteeg, Adam Pooley, and Steve hall with 15 ends and a margin of plus 11.

The runners up were Sam Baric, Bert Barker, and Trevor Trevillian on a countback with 15 ends and a plus 7 margin. The jackpot draw went to rink 12.

Although there were only a handful of cards left in the deck Ken Croft still missed picking the joker. The $510.00 jackpot must go off soon.

Club Major Pairs: Sunday, May 12. The final of the Club Major Pairs was played last Sunday. It was an impressive game of skill and spectators were kept on the edge of their seats.

Congratulations to all four bowlers for making it through to the final. Neil Power and Steve Gigg were a formidable combination and took out the win defeating Stuart Megee and Bob Brown

Social Pairs: Monday, May 13. Our visiting bowlers were Peter Mills from Oaklands, Brian Bailey from Canberra North, and Paul McCullough from Belconnen.

Monday's winners were Laurie Fayle and Owen Roe with a margin of plus 34. The runners up were Chris O'Brien and Gerry Vandermey with a plus 20.

The jackpot draw went to rink 5. Owen Roe missed the joker and the $500 jackpot carries over to next week.

NSW Senior Inter-Zone Sides Championships. This week John Desmet travels to Newcastle to play in the Zone 7 representative side competing in the Bowls NSW Senior Inter-Zone Sides Championships. We wish the Zone 7 side all the very best of luck in the competition.

2019 Pennants: Saturday, May 18. The Tomakin Grade 4 pennant side will travel to Bega this coming Saturday to play off against Sussex Inlet for the opportunity to compete in the Zone 7 final.

A win on Saturday will see the Tomakin team compete against Cooma on Sunday. Providing we win the Zone 7 play-off we will be off to Port Macquarie in August to play for the Bowls NSW Grade 4 State Flag.

Tomakin 4 Day Carnival, July 4 - 7. Entries are being taken for our four day carnival to be held in July.

Events include Open Triples on Thursday, Mixed Pairs on Friday, Mens Pairs of Saturday, and Mixed Fours on Sunday.
