The nomad couple, Stephen and Wendy Middleton, left their hometown of Goolwa, South Australia, to embark on a journey up the East Coast.
"It's our first time travelling the up the NSW coastline, it has been brilliant," Mr Middleton said.
"We found Tuross by surprise. We pulled in to have a look and ended up staying for three days."
The special sight of dolphins reeled the couple in. They watched as the dolphins darted though a large bait ball at One Tree Beach.
"At first I saw the school of salmon, and then realised there were dolphins herding them close to shore," Mr Middleton said.
"I have never seen dolphins herding fish before, they were surfing in on the waves - it was amazing!
Keen fishermen heard the news and grabbed their beach rod for a flick.
"After a few minutes people started turning up to check it out," he said.
"We watched for about 15 to 20 minutes."
The couple decided to stay at the Tuross Beach Holiday Park, parking their van on the banks of the Tuross Lake entrance.
"We loved the caravan park on the beach, listening to the surf and having a fire every night," Mr Middleton said.
The happy travellers said the dolphins and fresh seafood are their most fond memories of the South Coast as they continue their journey north.
