Social Bowls Winners' Circle

A great afternoon for bowls on Wednesday with the winners being decided by Lowest Winning Margin. The winners were Justin Bennett, Nathan Ryan and Jay Breust (skip) who were down 8 to 11 after 11 ends and also down 13 to 22 after 19 ends before they got very serious and won the next two ends to take the match 23 to 22 against Marcus Grant, Kevin Calloway and John Breust (skip).

Second place went to Les Waldock, Peter Murton and John Spees (skip) who were down 11 to 16 after 11 ends (and after dropping a very big number on end 9) before they caught up on end 20 and picked up two shots on the last end for a 28 to 26 win over Paul Naylor, Shorty Smart and Billy Wilton (skip). Promising young bowler Jay Breust was in fine form to get the first resting toucher at 1.34, well done Jay.

There were only four rinks in action on Saturday with the winners selected on highest winning margin. The winners were Les Waldock and Peter Murton (skip) with an all the way win over Tiger Fryer and John Voytas (skip).

Second place went to Gary Murane and Steve Murane (skip) who played well throughout for a 25 to 13 win over Graham Cummins and Peter McKay (skip).

On Sunday we had 28 bowlers playing four games of triples and one game of pairs. Winners were decided by highest winning margin with the winners being Darrell Goodridge and Sandra Breust (skip) who led 10 to 6 after 10 ends before they drew away for a good win over Clare Cork and Terry (skip).

Second place went to Jan Rapkins, Peter Murton and Bruce Rapkins (skip) who were on song all the way for a good win against Kaye Whiffen, Peter Hawker and Gerry Simmons (skip).

Club Minor Singles

The remaining semi final of the Minor Singles was played mid week between Rod Holman and Gary Murane.Gary started well and led 18 to 10 after 18 ends then Rod closed the gap to three shots after 22 ends. Gary began to draw clear and came away with a 31 to 21 win.

The final was played on Sunday between brothers Steve and Gary Murane. The game was very even early on with the lead changing 6 times in the first 12 ends and it was at this stage that Gary started to get the upper hand to lead 19 to 12 after 20 ends. Steve fought back to be 4 shots down after 28 ends. Gary then picked up the next 3 ends to win the match 31 to 21.

Congratulations to Gary for his win in the Club Minor Singles, what a great effort by both of you to play in the finals in your first year of playing bowls at Narooma.

Winner of the NMBC Minor Pairs, Gary Murane, is congratulated by his brother Steve who was the runner-up.

Dalmeny Men

Resuls w/e 7/7/19. Despite Chris Silver-Jones' manipulation of cards and raffle, Monday's good roll-up of 38 bowlers enjoyed the clear skies and where the lowest winning margin decided the winners on 2 in Towelling Lewis, Ken Dam-in As and Garry L-Rentacar from the runners-up on 4 in Graham or Brett, Peter the Pom and President Pete.

The resting toucher went to "organiser" Chris but the $100 jackpot did not go off. The wrong bias sinner's list included quite a few in Browny (2), Sailor Brian (3), Clive KV, Illya, Alan Mac and Neil (3) while the raffles went to Broker Jim, Roger C-Toe, Peter Mur-100 and visitor Rob Windscreens.

The change from Thursday to Friday didn't go according to plan as someone forgot to tell the weatherman and consistent over-night, morning and some afternoon showers put paid to the change in plans. Maybe we'll be lucky next week or is someone trying to tell us something. There maybe still time, if you hurry, to sign-on for the club championship fours as names need to be down as the draw will be made tomorrow the 10th July for the 1st round starting on the 13th July.

Dalmeny Women

July 2: It was another gorgeous day for a game of bowls. Winners, decided by lucky rinks, were Glen Pisanos, and Margaret Laker with Olwyn Mayer, Lyn Goldsmith and Pat Barklem as runners-up. Eileen Lavis was closest to the spider. Barbara Pearce and Glen Pisanos took home the raffle prizes. We wished President Pat and Secretary Lyn happy birthdays but they are not counting.

Remember the Annual General Meeting has been postponed until 11am on July 31, followed by our shout for a club lunch. We look forward to seeing all our members at the meeting to hear the news and reports for the year, not to mention electing the new executive and committee to serve our club, so that it is always good bowling at the friendly club.
