Vietnam Veterans Day this year falls on Sunday, August 18, with a commemorative service planned for Batemans Bay.

Batemans Bay Vietnam Veterans president Tony Herbert said the service commemorating the battle of Long Tan would be held at the monument in Rotary Park on Beach Road.
"We will be forming up at 10.30am, with a fly pass of RAAF fighter plane expected at 10.55am," he said.
"The service will start at 11am and will take about 45 minutes."
Guest speaker will be Jim Molan, former NSW MP and former major general in the Australian Army.
"I would like to invite all serving and ex-service personnel from all conflicts to attend the service; they will be most welcome," Mr Herbert said.
"After the service we will be retiring to the Soldier's Club for lunch, 12.30 for 1pm, with all serving and ex-service personnel and their partners invited - $25 per head."

Vietnam Veterans Day
Originally known as Long Tan Day, Vietnam Veterans Day commemorates the men of D Company 6RAR who fought the battle of Long Tan on August 18, 1966.
More than 100 Australian and New Zealand soldiers battled over 2,000 Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops in a rubber plantation not far from the village of Long Tan.
In the ensuing battle 18 Australians were killed and 24 were wounded..
