Cancer Council Southern NSW community lead Grant Plecas the amount well-surpassed the branch's target of $30,000.
Mr Plecas said the money was raised through the stars' fundraising efforts, silent auction, People's Choice award and ticket sales.
"It's a pretty special jump," he said.
"We've never got to $40,000 before.
"The funds raised will be spent supporting local people through transport, information support and accommodation."
Mr Plecas said the event "out-grew" the previous venue in Tomakin.
"We sold out every year there," he said.
"This was just a test to see if there was further interest.
"It made a huge difference because we were able to get more people to raise funds through tickets."
He said the performances "made the night".
"It's really good to see the response and the reaction from people who attend when it's just local community people," he said.
