Social Bowls Winners' Circle: There were 40 bowlers on Wednesday with the winners being decided by Highest Winning Margin. The winners were Richard Dunn, Jim Grant and Greg Ryan (skip) who got away to a good start to lead 14 to 7 after 11 ends before they turned up the heat for a 26 to 7 win against Ron Douglass, Peter Hawker and Jeremy Seaton (skip). Second place went to Darrell Goodridge, Jeff McCusker and John Downie (skip) who led 18 to 6 after 11 ends and continued their good bowls to take the match 24 to 10 against Peter James, Tony Gors and Peter Dillon (skip). All games were completed after 18 ends so that the bowlers could attend the AGM where the new committee was elected - Tony Palmer President, Graham Cummins Vice President, John McNamara Treasurer, Peter Dillon Secretary, John Downie, Allan Chisholm, John Voytas and Warren Bender Committee, John McNamara, Peter Jones and Graham Cummins Selectors.

On Sunday we had 36 bowlers playing 6 games of triples. Winners were decided by Lowest Winning Margin with the winners being new Sunday bowler Judy Blackman, Peter Hawker and Terry Lewis (skip) who led 10 to 7 after 11 ends and had the game all squared up for a 17 all draw win against Ronda Walters, Bruce Rolls and Jean Vos (skip) with Terry winning the toss. Second place went to Lee Lewis, Bob Murphy, and Janet Murphy (skip) who were down 10 to 11 after 11 ends before they finished hard for a 16 to 15 win against Shirley Rolls, Merrie Downie and Pat Wood (skip).
Club Triples: On Saturday the first round was played and the winners were Steve Murane, Garry Murane and Jeremy Seaton (skip) in a hard fought match where the scores were level on at 6 all, 8 all 12 all, 17 all and 22 all before they drew clear to defeat Darrell Goodridge, John Voytas and John McNamara (skip) 30 to 24. Another match was played on Sunday between Warren Bender, Rod Holman and John Downie (skip) and Les Waldock, Greg Ryan and Keith Bowater (skip). John's team led 10 to 4 after 9 ends before Keith's team came back strongly to squre the match at 11 all after 15 ends and then they drew away to take the match 25 to 12.
Narooma Women
A cloudless sky greeted ladies last Tuesday, August 13, when three games of social triples were played. The winners for the day were determined by a lucky rink draw. Rink 11 was 'the one' where Heather McGourty, Sue Wales and skip Vicki Herman played Jan Rapkins, Jenny Coulson and Margaret Naylor. Vicki's team led early then kept up the pressure mid-game to eventually win the match and the money. Sue Wales won the meat raffle - thank you to Rapley's Meats; Sue Bender picked up the second prize. Best birthday wishes to Kerry Ferguson for yesterday and to Jenny Coulson, celebrating her special day today.
Club Fours - attention is directed to information on the notice board, inviting teams to enter the club fours. Round one is 12 September, closing Tuesday, September 3. Good bowling to teams contesting the Nader Shield tomorrow and Friday at Tomakin. Wishing the Narooma team good luck!
Dalmeny Men
To keep flying both the Goose and his co-pilot required eye testing which because of it's specialist nature, had them flying away, so Monday's book results show the lowest winning margin deciding the winners in Tin's son Peter, Towelling Lewis and Garry L-Rentacar from the runners-up in our Macedonian Illya, Shark Finn and Cobber Dudley. Tony Ring-a Nan scored the first resting toucher but the $150 jackpot did not go off. Once again the wrong bias sinners and raffle prize winners remain nameless.
Friday's overcast skies looked threatening but that was all for the 24 players organised by Snoopy and finished by the Shark who had the points system deciding the winners on 21 in the Lewis duo of Meadow and Towelling and Ken Hill from the runners-up on 7 in Tony Ring-a-Nan, Dine-back Brooker and Chef Keith. No resting touchers were scored nor was the $100 jackpot won. The Goose and Ex.PM Neil (3) were the wrong bias sinners while I-slant L-Rentacar, Tony, Barry Arm-Inter, Mayor Brian and Hi-Ain't MacGregor.
The Goose hopes someone (a lot less cryptic) will be taking over the publicity officer's job after the AGM held on Monday and my "last" report will welcome the new incoming committee and that everyone interested got their names down for the mixed-pairs draw being done today.
Tuross Head
The finalists for the 2019 Mixed Pairs Championship have been decided with the completion of the quarter finals and semi finals. In the remaining quarter final Bruce and Denise Lidbury had a great tussle with Cheryl McRae and Lawrie Riley, holding on to win a very competitive game 22-16. In their semi-final the Lidburys started quickly in their game against Sharron Perry and Joel Hilliard, then pulled away to win 27 - 12.
The second semi-final proved to be a very exciting match between Peter Davies and Gail Page and Fran O'Connell and Marcel Kors. O'Connell and Kors were both in top form as they led from the second end. Using all of their experience and skill, Davies and Page fought back strongly. By the 19th end they had clawed back to 23 - 18. Then on the second last end they managed to score an incredible 7 shots to grab the lead for the first time since the very first end! Not to be outdone O'Connell and Kors struck back on the last end and scored the two shots needed to force the game into an extra end. In fact, it looked as if they might have had the three shots to win but were denied by a great bowl from Page.
On the deciding end Davies and Page had the better of the early bowls but the score finished 26 - 25 in favour of O'Connell and Kors. They now have the challenge of playing the Lidbury's in the final but have shown they have what it takes to win!
