A Triple-Zero (000) call was made on the morning of Thursday, August 22.
Far South Coast RFS manager John Cullen understood the fire had started from an old burn.
Five Eurobodalla Rural Fire Service crews, three Forestry crews are at the scene.
Mr Cullen said a bulldozer was clearing a track.
"It's very difficult country; we have a dozer there to get a track for suppression," he said.
"We have fire crews and forestry working to get containment in difficult conditions."
"It will take a little while," he said.
Mr Cullen said other RFS crews were also "tied up" at Wolumla and Bermagui fires.
