Ladies attending social bowls last Tuesday, September 10, played a different format to test their skills. The odds versus evens competition saw Kerry Ferguson and Sandra Breust play off in a 'shoot out' after accumulating the most shots in their previous rounds. Sandra was the eventual winner and Kerry runner-up. Sue Wales won the consolation prize and also took home the meat tray. Jenny Coulson won the fruit tray. Thanks to Rapleys Meats for their support. Birthday wishes to Annette Linney for her special day next Monday. Thank you to the ladies at Dalmeny Bowling Club for their hospitality last week, it was a lovely day.

Club Fours round one was played in overcast conditions last Thursday. Margaret Naylor, Gail Palmer, Pam Grant and Sandra Breust (skip) led early in the match then Cindy Newell, Sue Wales, Leila Gosper and Vicki Herman (skip) claimed eight of the next ten ends for a five shot advantage after thirteen. The second half saw a turn around when Sandra's team levelled the score at 14 all after 16 ends, then went on for a good win and a final's spot.
The final, played last Friday saw Sandra's team take the early lead again. Jan Rapkins, Mavis Hardy, Jenny Coulson and Helen Donovan (skip) rose to the occasion, winning eight of the next nine ends, to lead by one. Responding, Sandra's team played great bowls in the second half, winning the match and this year's Club Fours championship. Congratulations to Sandra and her team and well done to all the ladies who competed.

Social Bowls Winners' Circle
There were 42 bowlers on Wednesday with the winners being decided by Lowest Winning Score. The winners were Allen Chisholm, Rod Holman and Peter Jones (skip) who started strongly to lead 15 to 5 after 13 ends and survived a late sprint to finish with an 18 to 15 win against Scott Kennedy, Tony Cobcraft and John McNamara (skip). Second place went to Peter Murton, Les Waldock and Col Armstrong (skip) who led 16 to 8 after 10 ends and managed to hold on for a 19 to 17 win against Dennis Maggs, Tony Palmer and Ray Gale (skip). The first resting toucher went to Peter Murton at 3.07, well done Peter you obviously kept your team on song today. Thank you to Rapley's Midtown Quality Meats for their continued sponsorship.
On Saturday we had 24 bowlers enjoying the day and the the Saturday Jackpot was not won and now stands at $600, a good time to put your name down and try your luck. Tha Maggsy Draw was Lowest Winning Margin with Steve Murane and brother Gary Murane (skip) taking their match 20 to 18 after leading 11 to 9 after 11 ends against Neville Mitchell and Jeremy Seaton (skip). Second prize went to Darrel Goodridge and John Voytas (skip) who were down 11 to 21 after 13 ends before they got their act together to charge home for a 32 to 24 win against Tony Fryer and Peter Dillon (skip).
On Sunday we had 28 bowlers playing 4 games of triples and a game of pairs. Winners were decided by Highest Winning Score with the winners being Lois MacGregor, who is playing in great form,, Darrel Goodridge and Ken Burrows (skip). They led 15 to 13 after 11 ends and then picked up the pace to run out 28 to 18 winners against Julie Smith, Jan Rapkins and Pam Grant (skip). Second place went to Mavis Hardy, visitor Debbie Sawtell and Gerry Simmons (skip) who bowled well throughout to turn a 13 to 5 lead after 11 lead into a 22 to 9 win against Peter Hawker, Cindy Newell and John Lonergan (skip). We send a fond farewell to John who is leaving to live in Wagga Wagga, thank you John for your friendship, we wish you all the best in your new surroundings.
Consistency Championships
Consistency matches this week were played over several days. Darrel Goodridge and Allen Chisholm played a very entertaining match where Darrel got away to a good start and he never let Allen get into the game as he took the match 108 to 62. Jeremy Seaton continued his good form to hit the ground running to lead all the way against Tony Palmer to win his match 106 to 74. John Breust took on John Downie and he led 55 to 45 after 10 ends and kept that margin going for a 100 to 90 win. Col Armstrong and Peter Jones had a fantastic match with the lead changing on several occasions and the final score with Col winning 101 to 99 showed that it was close all the way. Col backed up to play Les Waldock and Les took the lead early and although Col caught up to be 75 all after 15 ends Les regained the lead and took the match 107 to 83.
