At the start of 2019 the band, which was formed when its members were all in their teens, held what they believed to be their final concert as they were going their separate ways to further their education and work in different parts of the country.
But as the coming summer is bringing them back to their roots on the Far South Coast they decided to get reunite for some more shows.
"I'm excited, it's going to be crazy!" guitarist Hayden Ryan said after arriving home in his new base of Melbourne and cracking open a beer.
"We've got such a good energy onstage, bringing it back and recreating that feeling is going to be wicked."
Along with a headline gig planned for Moruya where they will be supported by other bands whose members they are friends with, they are also on the line-up for Band Together in Wolumla.
When the bandmates arrive home over the next few weeks they will all start rehearsing furiously, as at least one of them needs a refresher of their songs.
"A few weeks ago I went through our catalogue and realised how much I've forgotten," Ryan laughed.
"It's going to be interesting to see who is in the same boat and what kind of elements we'll add to our own songs."
The 20-year-old said drummer Braedon Welsh-Jones has been finishing Year 11 while performing in bands such as Soul Stories, but he is the only member that has been consistently playing music since they split up.
Ryan has been at university studying a Bachelor of Music Industry, vocalists Georgia Macdonald and Dayna Lingard have been in Wollongong with the former studying primary teaching and the latter event management and commerce, while while bassist Harrison Bunney has been working as a carpenter on the Far South Coast.
Individually the group's members have been exploring themselves musically over the past year and are keen to write new songs.
"I'm hoping we can improve on our stage presence," Ryan said.
"Instead of playing songs just for the sake of playing songs, maybe we can make it something like musical theatre.
"I'm hoping when people see our songs they can say it's different to when they last saw us."
Seeing as the five-piece is getting back together Ryan hoped the band's longevity would continue.
"I'm hoping this isn't the last of this," he said.
"But it's still hard to say because we're all at different places, that's why it'd be cool to release new music so there's that consistency."
Cuppa Shred will perform from 4pm at Band Together, Wolumla on Saturday, November 30 where on the line-up they join ARC Supergroup, Killing Heidi, Imogen Clark, Mental As Anything and more.
Tickets to the event can be purchased by clicking here and are $90 for adults and $35 for youth aged 12-17.
Cuppa Shred will also headline a concert at the Moruya Waterfront Hotel, Moruya on Saturday, December 7 from 8pm supported by Blackout Fun Club, Potent Soap and Fika.
Tickets are $10, entry is for over 18s.
