A new dam south-west of Bodalla would secure the Eurobodalla Shire's water supply, Bega MP Andrew Constance says - but substantial federal funds were needed for the $100 million project.

Speaking in Moruya on Friday, October 11, Mr Constance said the state government's contribution of $26.3 million for the "Southern Water Storage" still required federal backing - and hoped the Morrison Government would throw in "up to half" of the total cost.
The planned dam would "add 3,000 Megalitres of water storage to the Eurobodalla region" and "provide long-term water security for the region".
Mr Constance said the dam was part of the Safe and Secure Water Program
"The Program prioritises key water infrastructure projects - from local drought backup systems through to new or upgraded dams to secure water supplies for our regional communities," he said.
Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes said the project was "critical to the future water security and economic growth of the Eurobodalla".
"We are really grateful for the support of the NSW Government, our local member Andrew Constance MP and Minister Melinda Pavey MP who are backing our community to succeed."
The Safe and Secure Water Program is a $1 billion regional infrastructure co-funding program established in 2017 under the NSW Government's Restart NSW Fund.
