Social Bowls Winners' Circle. There were 40 bowlers on Wednesday and we played versatility, with the winners being decided by Lucky Rinks. The winners were Tony Fryer, Tony Palmer and Ray Gale (skip) who started strongly, winning 7 ends in a row, to lead 12 to 8 after 12 ends and then lost the lead 18 to 17 with one end to go before pickimg up 2 shots on the last end for a 19 to 18 win against Scott Kennedy, Ken Burrows and Bruce Rapkins (skip). Second place went to Alan Chisholm and Dennis Maggs (skip) who were behind 10 to 17 after 15 ends before they knuckled down to finish strongly for a 24 to 22 win against Terry Lewis and Jon King (skip).

On Saturday we had 20 bowlers enjoying the day and the the Saturday Jackpot was not won and now stands at $660, a good time to put your name down and try your luck. Tha winners were decided by Highest Winning Score and the first prize went to John Voytas and Darrel Goodridge (skip) who had a very close game early with the scores being level at 15 all after 14 ends before they upped the ante and powered home fo a 34 to 19 win againsy Scott Kennedy and Jeremy Seaton (skip). Second place went to Craig Campbell, Shorty Smart and Carl Lee (skip) who led 17 to 5 after 10 ends and kept putting down good bowls for a 30 to 16 win over Bill Turnbull, Bill Wilton and Paul Naylor (skip).
On Sunday we had 26 bowlers playing 3 games of triples and 2 games of pairs. Winners were decided by Highest Winning Margin with the winners being Jan Rapkins, Pat Wood and Ken Burrows (skip). They were on the ball all day for a good win against Ella Breust, Peter Hawker and Jean Vos (skip). Second place went to Mavis Hardy, Shirley Pilgrim and Peter Jones (skip) who led 14 to 9 after 14 ends and won the remaining ends for a 27 to 9 win against Lois MacGregor, Enid Brooker and Gerry Simmons (skip). Janet Murphy and Gail Palmer wanted me to mention their great comeback from being down 15 to 4 to win 22 to 18 but I decided not to comply.
Presidents Pairs: Two second round matches were played in the Presidents Pairs with Tony Gors and Greg Ryan (skip) in a close game early against Peter Dillon anf Peter Jones (skip) with Greg's team leading 13 to 12 after 14 ends.
Greg and Tony then started to shine as they won some good ends to take the match 27 to 13. Steve Murane and Graham Cummins (skip) were up against Darrel Goodridge and Tony Palmer (skip) and they raced out early and led 18 to 10 after 14 ends and then maintained their lead to take the match 21 to 17.
Narooma Women
There were no social bowls last Tuesday, due to the inclement weather.
Consistency - rounds 1 and 2 were played last Thursday. Competition was keen and good bowls played in the 'first to 100'points singles contest.
Round one - Julie Smith, playing her first consistency match had a good contest, just two shots behind after 10 ends against Lorraine Mitchell, who won the game.
Sandra Breust played great bowls to win against Pam Grant; Jan Rapkins led throughout to defeat Sue Bender after a good game, 107 to 93. Sue Wales won against Cindy Newell; Gail Palmer played well to defeat Dawn Kenny. Leila Gosper won against Janet Murphy and Annette Linney showed good form to defeat Jean Vos.
Round two - Lorraine Mitchell met Sandra Breust who maintained her good form, winning the game and a semi-final spot. Jan Rapkins continued her good form against Sue Wales in a close contest, just two shots the difference after ten ends. Then Jan won three ends in succession and maintained the pressure to win the game.
Trailing early, Gail Palmer made a good comeback and was two shots behind after nine ends before Leila Gosper had a strong second half finish, to take their match.
Annette Linney met Marg Naylor who had a first round bye. Another good close game, Annette held on to the lead, going on for a win.
Semi-final - Sandra Breust vs Jan Rapkins; Leila Gosper vs Annette Linney. Final results next week.
