Karabethong Lodge was the main residental venue but numbers attending (32) were so great some stayed at the caravan park and apartments. Happy hour was held each night at 5 o'clock to discuss the day's walks and plan for the next day.

Walks catered for all people's abilities and needs with shorter and longer walks undertaken. Standouts over the four days were the Coastal Walk (12km) from Shipwreck Beach to near Mallacoota, Genoa Peak, the boat trip on the Lake to the northern shore and walk to the Spotted Dog gold mine, and the Double Creek walk along the southern shore of the Lake.

A feature of all the walks were the wildflowers. The tea trees were flowering prolifically with the scent of the nectar being smelt whist walking past the stands.

Birdlife is abundant, from raptors through to scrub wrens, and many shore birds being seen.

Tuesday's walkers, saw that many whales they were too numerous to count and yes there are koalas in this area. They were seen on the walks and even in the middle of town opposite the coffee shop.

This is a truely magical region, tucked away from the "hurly burly" of city life. The last evening was spent having a pleasant dinner at the famous Lucy's before we all went our separate ways. Fun was had by all.

The Dalmeny Narooma Bushwalkers Club was established in May 1986 to encourage bushwalking as a group activity.
