This week's focus leaves the stormy seas the Southern Eurobodalla Pirates' men's team have encountered so far and shifts to calmer waters as the women prepare for the new year.

After finishing runners up in the Grand Final, the bonds formed have carried through to pre-season, leading to healthy numbers and the club pondering a second team, much to the delight of sponsors.
Finishing second on the ladder, they won 3, drew 1 and lost 2, taking 30 wickets and scoring 579 runs in 6 games. They held their opposition to 557 runs.
Whilst only playing four games, Maddie Czubara starred with 107 runs at an average of 50.5 and a highest score of 50 n.o. Melanie Tiffen was the League's third highest run scorer, with 128 at 32 and a highest score of 49. Rachel Kincaid was superb with 110 runs at 18.33 and a high 40.
Talia Moreton-Stewart ran through five batters at an average of 12 runs per wicket and economy rate of 5.45 runs per over. Taliya Smith took four wickets at 18 and an economy rate of 5.67. Whilst only taking two wickets in her three games, Jessica Konstantinidis kept the opposition to a meagre 3.3 runs per over from nine (ave. 15) - critical in the 20-over format.
Michelle Hewston was a superb captain. If you are interested in joining for the February season start, training is on Thursdays, 5pm at the Dalmeny Oval.
There is an interesting dynamic building for the men, especially in the 2nd Division team, as the Australian tradition of "taking the mickey" has become the soothing gel for the pain of mishaps. Even after a loss, featuring a player leaving a hat-trick ball and still managing to get stumped, the players are strangely comforted by the delivery of fines, especially when it's time to unload on Captain, Kyle "Person X" Field. The barbecue fines kitty is healthy. After crumbling to a paltry 10/ 58, they fought well to take seven Tathra wickets before the score was passed. Opening combination, David Moran (2/15) and Hayden Lang ((2/18) had the visitors reeling at 4/20, with two wickets apiece and Field came on to take 3/10.
First Division Men had their first win of the season against Bermagui, away. Dean Friskin starred with 82, ably supported by Brendan Connor (47) and Thilan Walgamage (31). Stuart Piper was the best of the bowlers with 2/21 from six overs.
