Eurobodalla and Bega Valley councils overwhelmed by people's generosity but are struggling to cope

Representatives from Eurobodalla and Bega Valley Shire councils say they have been overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of people from around Australia donating items for Eurobodalla's fire-affected residents.

"It's been absolutely amazing and makes us feel supported and loved. Thank you," a spokesperson said.

"But we've reached the point where we can't accept any more goods. They're filling up space we don't have and taking the time of workers away from focusing on the welfare and recovery of our residents.

"The best way you lovely people can help is to donate to one of the charities associated with the recovery effort."

Money gives people choice to buy the things they really need and lets them support their local businesses by spending locally. Governor General David Hurley reinforced this message during his visit to Eurobodalla yesterday.
