As we enter week four of repairing the significant damage to the electricity network and restoring power for customers following the devastating fires across South East NSW; customers and their needs remain at the forefront of our response.
Over the past three weeks we have been able to restore power to more than 35,500 customers, however, the 1500 customers remaining without power are likely to not be restored to the electricity network for a few more weeks.
The damage remaining on the network is extensive with entire sections having to be rebuilt, and the area isn't confined to one location.
This is the case in Tumbarumba and south of the township, across the Bega, Cooma and Bermagui areas and further north into the surrounding areas of Moruya.
While this work continues, the needs of customers remain a priority.
Late last week, Essential Energy contacted 1300 customers to speak with them about their current power arrangements and when we expect power to be restored.
Essential Energy offered small portable loan generators to customers with 10 per cent taking up the offer.
We have also offered fuel vouchers to customers, with many having their own generator. This offer was taken up by 69 per cent of customers.
Essential Energy has a dedicated team on the ground coordinating the delivery of generators to customers with a safe operation briefing being part of the service.
More than 430 Essential Energy personnel continued to work over the weekend, successfully restoring power to over 250 customers on Sunday.
Essential Energy crews will continue restorations efforts into this week, working in challenging terrain, weather conditions and completing complex repairs on the electricity network.
