With fires burning only kilometres away, the smoke had settled in low-lying areas overnight.

The Eurobodalla Shire Council urged drivers to turn their headlights on.
"There's very high fire danger today and there's potential for fire to impact the Princes Highway today and tomorrow between Bermagui and south of Moruya," a council spokesperson said.
"Plan your travel so you're not stuck on the wrong side of a highway closure, and if you can, stay off the road.
"Travelling west of the highway in the Eurobodalla Shire is not recommended - there's still active fire and falling trees."
According to the Bureau of Meterology, increasing north to north-easterly winds are forecast for today, January 31, with temperatures reaching the high 30s.
A southerly change is expected to hit the Far South Coast late Saturday.
