Narooma Men

Social Bowls Winners' Circle

It was a great day for bowls on Wednesday with 52 bowlers making up 8 rinks of triples and a game of pairs.

The Maggsy Draw was lowest winning margin and this week the winners were the regular, and welcome, visitors from Thirroul, Ian Hine, Graham Cuz Wilton and Jake Moreau (skip) who had a great match where the score was level on 5 occasions but they won by a short half head with a 17 to 16 sore against Craig Campbell, Paul Naylor and Shorty Smart (skip).

Second place went to Rex Dunne, Tony Gors and Terry Lewis (skip) who also had a tight game where the lead changed on 7 occasions throughout the match and they won the last 2 ends to take the match 21 to 20 win against Tony Fryer, Ken Burrows and Neville Butt (skip).

The first resting toucher was recorded at 12.40 by both Bob Murphy and Don Caldwell and both were given the big dollars, so well done guys you are usually all over the jack. Thank you to Rapley's Midtown Meat for their continued support.

The much needed rain ruled out any other games for the week but hopefully we will be back again next week.

Ladies Social Bowls, February 4

There was a good roll-up last Tuesday for the Joe's Special organised by our match team. Anne Nicholls is visiting from Thirroul it's good to welcome her back again.

A good contest ensued on rink 3 where Cindy Newell, Aurelia Robinson and Gail Palmer (skip) played Jenny Coulson, Sue Wales and Jean Vos (skip). In a close match, Jean's team hit the lead twice before Gail applied pressure in the closing stages to win their game, then the lucky rink prize.

Second prize to the 'in form' team of Coral Read, Denise Holman and Merrie Downie (skip) who played great bowls to win against Julie Smith, Sue Bender and Leila Gosper (skip).

Sandra Breust won the 50Club and Jan Rapkins the meat tray. Jenny Coulson claimed the fruit/veg tray. Thanks to Rapley's Mid-Town Meats, also to Sandra. Best wishes to Margaret Naylor for her Birthday on Friday, have a lovely day.
