Badja Forest Road Fire finally at Patrol status after burning over 300,000ha

On Wednesday night, the NSW Rural Fire Service Far South Coast announced after 48 days the Badja Forest Road Fire was finally at "Patrol" status.
The RFS said aerial and ground surveillance had not shown any evidence of hotspots likely to test its containment lines.
Surveillance, or patrol work, will continue until the RFS is convinced there is no threat left.
The fire burnt through 315,512ha, destroying homes and impacting heavily on large areas of the Far South Coast.
It devastated the regions of Cobargo, Quaama, Verona, Coolagolite and Brogo on New Year's Eve, and four people from these regions lost their lives during the fire or in the period after.
The fire flared up again in late January, again resulting in losses at properties at Dignams Creek and Coolagolite.
The RFS said all other fires on the Far South Coast were contained and it hoped to be able to move these to Patrol status over coming days as well.
