The NSWRL and its Board, in conjunction with the NRL and affiliated states, said it will make an announcement on Wednesday regarding the conduct of Community Rugby League and its major competitions in 2020.

NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden said the NSWRL is in close and constant consultation with the NRL and the NRL Chief Medical Officer Dr Paul Bloomfield and would like to stress that given the fluidity of the situation around the COVID-19 pandemic it will continue to act on expert advice, with the health and safety of our players, staff and officials the paramount consideration in regards to any decision.

ACM reporters are also seeking more information from Group 16 officials about any potential impact to the season.

The Group 16 competition is not scheduled to start until the weekend of April 11, but fixtures are planned for as early as two weeks from now with the Indigenous v All Star weekend on the books for a March 29 run a week ahead of the pre-season Nines draw.

The Bega Roosters. Candelo-Bemboka Panthers and Moruya Sharks have reported they will stand down training until further notice as per the direction of NSWRL.

"Senior training (all grades) has been cancelled effective immediately. We are expecting a further update tomorrow in relation to what might happen to the start of the competition and resumption of training," the Sharks shared on social media.

The Roosters' trial against the North Canberra Bears went ahead as planned over the weekend, but a scheduled trial game for the Moruya Club against Gunghalin Bulls this weekend has been cancelled.
