This is to ensure that everyone stays well and safe as we collectively deal with the impact of the COVID-19 virus.

Our last day of dog training took place on March 14.

The NDTC committee, instructors and volunteers would like to thank everyone for taking extra precautions on that day, and for their ongoing patience and understanding as we all take this important break from our program.

Looking ahead, April is usually a quiet month in the NDTC calendar as it contains both Easter and Anzac public holiday long weekends.

NDTC does not run training programs on any public holiday long weekend as usually there are lots of other fun events happening that people like to attend.

So on the plus side, handlers currently registered with NDTC will only miss two training days in April.

With sensible social distancing and adherence to the strong health messages we have all been given, NDTC hopes to resume our training afternoons very soon.

This will of course depend on directives we receive from the NSW and Federal governments, the council, and from our own head office, the NSW Animal Welfare League. So watch this space!

Narooma Dog Training Club, founded by Yve Robinson (local Narooma resident and life member of AWL NSW), has been operating in the Eurobodalla Shire for more than 10 years.

Under the expert eye of our Chief Instructor, and using positive training methods, pet owners attending group classes learn to be responsible and competent dog handlers. Likewise, puppies and dogs of all ages and breeds acquire good manners, socialise with other dogs and importantly, socialise with us humans. There are promotion days and award opportunities throughout the year, plus Rally-O competitions and end of year trophies to be won. Dog Agility is another aspect to be enjoyed. Dogs love jumping over, under and through various pieces of agility equipment. The club even holds a Dog Christmas Party with games, prizes, fancy dress and treats for everyone - it is all great fun!
