WIRES Mid-South Coast volunteers have five wombat joeys in care with the youngest Neddie in the care of Nalda Paterson of Kianga. Neddie came into care in early February after his badly burnt mother died from injuries sustained in the bushfires. He weighed only 150 grams.

Nalda Paterson is a specialist 'pinkie' carer who looks after the small orphaned wombats, kangaroos and wallabies. The work requires high level skills and very little sleep.
Neddie was fed every four hours, night and day and he now weighs 1kg.
"He is a sweet joey and loves to curl up in his pouch on my chest before going back into his humidicrib to sleep," Ms Paterson said.
Neddie will stay with Ms Paterson until is 3 kg and move to another carer until he is released back into the wild.
New furever home just peachy for AWL Pet of Week
"I see you looking... bet you've never seen anyone as cute as me? I'm two-years old and I used to be called Puss, but my carer named me Peaches, because of my chubby cheeks and beautiful colouring. I match any colour scheme, so I'd look great at your house and you would love me. Please contact Animal Welfare League NSW Eurobodalla on 0410 016 612 to find out more."
AWL animals are microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, flea/tick/worm treated and have had a vet health check.
