All Age Ladies
Narooma FC (8) def Batemans Bay FC (0)
After a few years hiatus from competitive football in the Eurobodalla, the Narooma FC All Age Ladies returned to the field with a bang last Wednesday night, up against a Batemans Bay team that were also making a long-awaited comeback to Eurobodalla football.
The Narooma ladies benefited from the experience of Nakia Moreton-Stewart, Talia Moreton-Stewart and Rachael Kincaid, who showed their understanding together to get the team off to a solid start. However, it was new red and white recruit, Peta Cottington, that opened the scoring with a show of individual brilliance. From there on the Narooma outfit played with confidence and vision, and scored some spectacular team goals, finished off numerous times by both Sarah Dudley and Shayla Moreton-Stewart.
While the Narooma women finished 8-0 victors, the score line does nothing to reflect the enjoyable time had by both teams and played in a spirit that makes you proud to be part of the Eurobodalla community.
The ladies have a bye this week, before taking on the Moruya Swans in what is already shaping up to be the battle of the season.
All Age Men
Moruya FC (2) drew with Narooma FC (2)
Fielding no less than seven debutants, a new look Narooma FC All Age Mens team kicked off their 2020 campaign against Moruya FC at Gundary Oval on Friday night July 3.
Arguably against the run of play, Moruya took the lead early in the first half after Narooma's defensive line were caught out of position and exposed. A long ball sliced through the Narooma defence allowed Moruya a one on one opportunity with Narooma's debutant keeper, Cayden Wellsmore, who was helpless to act on a quality finish into the top corner.
Despite joining the team very recently, and with next to no time to adapt to the Narooma men's playing style, you could be forgiven for thinking Jorden Stafford, Harrison Baker, James Langworthy and Chris Dwyer were veterans of the club. To the extent that it was Baker that nabbed Narooma's first goal of the season to level things up after combining well with Ben Smith on the edge of the penalty area.
The second half saw multiple chances spurned either way. Jack Westoll put in an impressive showing for Narooma on flanks, as did club veteran, Callum Annand. However, it was Moruya that ultimately made use of the wide positions after the reds failed to clear their lines and offered time and space for a lofted cross, which was nodded home from the six yard box.
Narooma pressed a tiring Moruya side for an equaliser and ultimately found it though Chris Dwyer after a scrap in the box. Had the game been five minutes longer, a third Narooma goal would have been inevitable. It was not to be however, with the scores finishing 2-2 and the teams adding a point each to their premiership chase.
The men return home to Dalmeny Oval on Friday, 10 July to take on Clyde United SC. Kick off at 6:30pm.
Under 10s
Narooma FC (7) def Batemans Bay FC (0)
Narooma FC's under 10s got off to a great start in the 2020 season with a convincing 7-0 win at home against Batemans Bay. With a full side taking the field, the conditions for play were perfect and though the opposing team put in a commendable effort, the Narooma FC defence and attack proved too much. Narooma played well together and dominated possession throughout both halves. The team's ability to communicate on field and quick feet led them to a convincing first win for the season.

Narooma FC vs Clyde United SC
The under 9's got off to a great start to the season against Clyde on the weekend. Pleasingly, although training time has been limited, they managed to put into action what we had been working on during training and achieved their individual challenges set before the game. All squad members displayed great sportsmanship. Special mention goes to our two debutants Kiara McMartin and Abigail Black who enjoyed themselves. Also, well done to Asher Hoar for putting his hand up to play in goals and making a crucial save late in the second half. Great lead up play by Oliver Haddon allowed Eli Good to slot home a tidy shot with the game finishing 1-0.

Narooma FC Raptors vs Batemans Bay Strikers
The Narooma FC Raptors kicked their 2020 season off on Sunday, July 5, with a spirited effort against the Bay Strikers. It was a very even contest and both teams played extremely well.
Flinder Black played with confidence for his first ever competitive football game and was vital in setting up the Raptors only goal, scored by Izzie Campbell. Riley Boulton and Billie Hull were excellent in defense and stopped numerous Bay scoring opportunities. Some important set pieces were taken by Jake Talanoa, who is growing in confidence. But it was Arthur Tyrrell who played extremely well throughout the whole game and took home The Inlet Seafood Restaurant Player of the Week award. A great time was had by both teams and the Raptors are looking forward to the next game!
