Thursday, July 23: A field of 132 players enjoyed pleasant conditions with associated good scoring. In A Grade Colin O'Sullivan emerged in the premier position with 41 points off his handicap of 12, followed by Scott Ker who went round the course in one under par in posting 39 points. David Bennett finished third with 37 points. In B Grade Greg Riley registered the best score of the day with 42 points off his handicap of 14, followed by Steve Marsden and Tony Cobcroft on 40 and 38 points respectively. In C Grade Graham Mumm finished on top with 38 points off his handicap of 24 with Matt Blythe in second position on 37 points. Derek Moritz ended up third in a four-way countback on 35 points ahead of Frank Clarke, Sam Nicholls and Don Caldwell.The nearest-the-pin winners were Chris Heath on 3, Scott Ker on 9, Kevin Mitchell on 14 and Mark Anderson on 17, while the ball competition went down to all on 32 points.

Saturday, July 25: Mild winter conditions greeted the field of 153 players for the final round of the Club Championships and the associated Stableford competition. The Stableford scores reflected the difficulty of the course where only three players bettered their handicaps. In A Grade Geoff Lanham prevailed with 38 points off his handicap of 10, while Tom Ainsworth from Penrith edged out Brendan Warby on countback to take second place with 37 points. Peter Kearney took out B Grade with 36 points off his handicap of 17 ahead of three players on 34 points with the placings going to Ben Smith and Kevin Seamons and Steve Marsden missing out. In C Grade Campbell Telford from Victoria triumphed with 36 points off his handicap of 25, one better than Vic Zarb and Russell Naumann on 34 points. The nearest-the-pin winners were Mandy Hall on 3, Scott Ker on 9 for the second time this week, Robert Nancarrow from Mollymook on 14 and Michael Turner on 17, while the ball competition went down to 31 points.
The final round of the Championships saw one of the best finishes in A Grade for a long time . As playing partners present champion Jordan Lang passed the leader Scott Harris to lead by two shots before Scott Ker overtook them both with a two-under-par round of 70 to win by two shots.
Accordingly, he took out the daily competition with 68 net, followed by Jackson Taylor and Shaun Martyn on net 70 and 71 respectively. In B Grade Peter O'Kane continued his purple patch with net 68 off his handicap of 19 with Peter James and Graham Small in the minor positions on 70 and 72 respectively. In C Grade Peter Bashford took first place with net 70 off his handicap of 21, with Geoff Broadfoot on 73 and Steve Dobson on 74 in the minor positions. The ball competition went down to 76 net.
Scott Ker is the new Club Champion with 221 ahead of Jordan Lang on 223.Michael Turner took out the A Grade net with 220 on countback from Phil Haynes. Paul Davey is the B Grade winner with 265 ahead of Graham Small on 270, while Peter O'Kane was a commanding winner in the net with 208 ahead of Gary Leahy on 230. Peter Bashford emerged on top in the C Grade championship with 279 ahead of John Hasler on 303, while Steve Dobson finished in first place in the net with 225 ahead of Stewart Murray on 229. Narooma women
On Monday July 20, Narooma Ladies played a medley stableford. Division 1 range 0-28 was won by Jayne Hotchkis with a great score of 35 points. Runner up was Sylvia Donohoe posting a score of 32 OCB.
Division 2 range 29-45 was won by Marea Clarke posting 35 points and runner up was Ris Cheale posting 33 points. Balls went to 27.
The 4BBB final was won by L McDonald and B Smart from D Wilkes and D Landells.
On Wednesday 22/7 round 3 of the championship red course was played in great conditions. Division 1 range 0-22 was won by Meridie Banson posting a nett score of 75. Jan Boxsell was runner up posting a nett score of 76.
Division 2 range was 23-45 with Margaret Brown posting a nett score of 74 and runner up was Di Williamson posting a nett score of 78 OCB.
The winner of Round 3 on the Yellow Course was Lynne McDonald posting a nett score of 68
Vicky Connaughton was the Stableford winner posting a great score of 37.

Tuross Head men
Saturday July 25: Steve Collins produced his best game to win the Tuross Head men's this week's Saturday stableford competition. Steve finished with an excellent score of 39 points.
Greg Smith and Stephen Hodge were not far behind with scores of 38 points.
Darren Wilmouth and Peter Mostyn, who both scored 37 points, filled the remaining award positions.
It was pleasing to see that golfers were able to attend the presentation as a group and receive their vouchers while still maintaining the personal distant rules.
Thursday's medley stableford competition was won by Steve Johnston with 41 points, ahead of Ron Rogers 40 points, Beverley Theobald and Greg Smith who both finished with 38 points and Peter Mostyn who scored 36 points.

Social Bowls Winners' Circle
On Wednesday we had 4 rinks of triples and 2 rinks of pairs with winners decided by Lucky Rinks. First place went to Tiger Fryer, Kevin Callaway and Jim Grant (skip) who led for most of the match and with 2 ends to play they had an 8 shot buffer but Allan Chisholm, Rod Holman and Peter Jones ( (skip) lifted their game to pick up 7 shots to go down, in an exciting finish, 22 to 21.
The club was closed after Wednesday Bowls and will reopen, hopefully, soon.
Coming events: Third round matches in the Major Singles are due to be played on or before Sunday.

Narooma women
A small group enjoyed social bowls last Tuesday, July 21, a beautiful mid-winter morning drenched in sunshine.
A game of triples and two rinks of pairs were played, the winners to be selected by a lucky rink draw. Di Fry teamed up with Marg Naylor to win against Sue Sansom and Pam Grant, also claiming the lucky rink and the prize money.
Merrie Downie held the winning ticket for the meat tray, Jan Rapkins took home the vegie tray. Thanks to Sandra Breust and Rapleys Meats for their support. Dawn Kenny and Coral Reid celebrated birthdays - hope both ladies enjoyed their day.
Major Singles
A significant event on the bowling calendar, the major singles commenced on 12 March and the final took place on 21 July between Sandra Breust and Leila Gosper. It proved to be 'Leila's day after establishing an early lead. Both finalists played great bowls but Leila stayed focused and continued her good form for a convincing win. Congratulations to Leila, winner of the Major Singles title for 2020, commiserations Sandra. A good game to watch.
Notice: Members please note that the club pairs, due to start tomorrow have been deferred. The AGM is now scheduled for 11 August.
Tuross Head
Defending Champions, Peter Davies and Joel Hilliard showed ominous signs of their intent with a commanding performance in the quarter finals of the 2020 Major Pairs Championship. They were challenged in the early ends by Lou Kozlik and Stan Peck with the scores locked at 8 all after 8 ends. The Champions then motored ahead winning all but two of the remaining ends. When they agreed to finish before the full 21 ends Davies and Hilliard were ahead 36 - 14.
The 2019 runners up, Noel Downie and John Monks, were as equally as impressive when they built on a great start to dominant Brian Currie and Alan Skelton. Downie and Monks scored 12 shots in the first 3 ends and they were ahead 19 - 3 after 10 ends. Currie and Skelton could not reproduce the form they showed in their first round victory. The final score was 33 - 6.
The other two quarter finals were much tighter affairs. Alan McLeod and Col Fletcher managed to hang in to record somewhat of an upset victory over Jim Macklan and Bruce Lidbury. McLeod and Fletcher started well and set up a 8 - 2 advantage after 7 ends before Macklan and Lidbury fought back. They struck back to hit the lead, for what turned out to be the only time in the match, at 9 - 8 after 10 ends. McLeod and Fletcher then won the next two ends by 4 shots each to quickly retake the lead. The remainder of the game was a very tight affair with Macklan and Lidbury chiselling away at the deficit. With one end to play they trailed by just one shot at 20 -19. They then seemed to hold the advantage on the last end and looked like they would snatch a come from behind victory. However, with the last bowl of the game, Fletcher coolly drew the shot to claim a 21 - 19 win and a place in the semi-finals. They will play Davies and Hilliard.
The final game between Michael Challice and Marcel Kors and Peter Macdonald and Ray Downey was a game of two halves that ended up needing an extra end to determine a winner. Macdonald and Downey had the better of the first half of the game and had a good lead at 17 - 8 after 11 ends. At this point the momentum changed. Challice and Kors gradually closed the gap. With Kors, in particular, playing some critical bowls they levelled the score at 19 all with just two ends to play. The sides then shared the last two ends each scoring one shot to see the scores locked at 20 all. Another end was required! Neither side was able to dominate the end and Kors had the opportunity to snatch victory with his last bowl. Unfortunately for him his bowl ran agonisingly just through the head meaning Macdonald and Downey won 21 - 20 and booked a place in the final four where they will play Downie and Monks.
