In all the years that the Narooma Woodies have been based at the Old Bodalla School one thing they have wished to fix was the old quadrangle that had become broken and uneven over the years due to water and tree root damage. This issue assumed greater importance recently when two elderly members suffered head injuries in falls on the rough surface. After lobbying, pleading and asking for support the club managed to raise enough funds and support to have the old concrete removed and a new surface laid. Large rotting logs lying next to the fence line were taken away, removing a fire hazard.

Members gathered for a BBQ on Tuesday, September 1 to mark the occasion and used the club's market tables so everyone could spread out and enjoy a hearty feast. Visitors from the Narooma Men's Shed and Eurobodalla Woodies joined the celebration. Club President Colin Boxsell said the restored quadrangle ensured a much safer environment, especially for those not as nimble as they once were. Shire Councillor Rob Pollock said his family had a strong connection to the old school and he was glad to see it utilised for the community. Rob said the council was glad to assist in this project. Secretary Jeffrey Davidson thanked Narooma Earthmoving and Morrison Concreting, who went above and beyond. He thanked the council for assisting with tip fees and Community Building Partnership NSW and the Australian Men's Shed Association for their support.
The Woodies said farewell to long-time member Neil Fraser. Neil has been part of the small team of toy makers for many years and his wares are regularly seen at the club's Narooma Market stall. Neil is leaving Dalmeny to be closer to family in northern NSW.
