MACS has been administering this service to the travelling public since May 2016, having taken over from the Eurobodalla Council who ran it for many years.
Over these years, this information centre gave many visitors a clear insight into the historical and cultural hinterland of this area and the friendly service from staff and also local volunteers made a lasting impression on travellers who often returned to Narooma many times.
This centre fills one half of the special public building near the town round-about , which also houses the Historical Museum and was purpose built to hold the original lens and workings from the Montague Island Lighthouse.
The joint uses of travel information, local art displays and a historical museum are a perfect fit and locals and tourists alike are encouraged to drop by for a look at this interesting public space.

Thanks to 'captain of our school ship'
What a year this has been, for everyone, and for our school community.
I have been wanting to write this note for many months - to acknowledge the "captain" of our ship - Mrs Fiona Jackson, principal of Narooma High School.
Before 2020 began, the bushfires had started to blaze, affecting everyone on our South Coast. Mrs Jackson guided our school community through the fires, back into the stability and security of school, looking out as best she could for our students, their physical and emotional health.
With the fires easing and fresh air returning, Mrs Jackson provided a place of sanctuary, the normality of School for all our students and staff. But this would be the first challenge of 2020, with COVID-19 to follow.
With this came the need to provide school education online, a mammoth task. Working together with her executive and superb staff, our students were supported through the isolation of this time, receiving the school work via computer or paper.
Gratefully, school was able to return, and our students thrived in the personal contact. Currently, our Year 12 students are writing their HSC exams, within the COVID-19 regulations. Throughout these past 10 months, I have witnessed Mrs Jackson maintain her energy, enthusiasm, compassion, wisdom, and strength as she has connected with the community and guided the School forward. On behalf of the community and parents, we thank you! We thank you and your Staff! We are grateful for a school which has such spirit, heart, intelligence, a vibrant and dynamic school!

Deadline looms to have your say on CWA submission to state healthcare inquiry
The Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW is preparing a submission to a NSW parliamentary inquiry into rural, regional and remote healthcare and is urging NSW residents in non-metropolitan areas to share their feedback on the state's health system.
The CWA of NSW has prepared a survey that will form the basis of the organisation's submission to the Upper House inquiry, which will focus on health outcomes and access to health and hospital services in rural, regional and remote areas of the state. The survey is currently available on the CWA of NSW's website at https://www.cwaofnsw.org.au/healthservices and includes questions around the availability of specialist services in communities, waiting times, costs of care, travel times and treatment outcomes.
The survey is open for comment until November 11.
