The ladies have been organising relief for locals around Bodalla, Eurobodalla, Cadgee and Nerrigundah since the fires devastated their homes earlier this year. Through the assistance of Jericho Road the Presbyterian Church volunteers have been able to provide assistance to residents affected by the fires.

Saturday's luncheon was one of several the volunteers have organised throughout the year. Volunteers Bev Davis, Jill Mawson and Sandra Ortega organised the pre-Christmas Chinese banquet which was greatly appreciated by their guests.

In thanking the church volunteers, local man Peter Colburn said, "I may not have met God during all this trauma, but I have met some very special ladies that have."

There was also a selection Christmas Cakes, puddings, chocolates, pamper packs, vouchers and books for people to take home with them.

"We have had HelloFresh food deliveries going out to people and as it gets closer to Christmas we will be including Christmas items and vouchers in the deliveries," Bev Davis said.

"We are very concerned about the number of people that are finding it emotionally tough going as we approach Christmas and the first anniversary of the catastrophic bushfires," she said.

The next meeting is the Christmas meeting on Friday, November 27 at Narooma Golf Club, 11am for 11.30am start. As there are still COVID restrictions in force, we can only have 32 members present, and this quota has been filled. We are looking forward to the December get-together, and seeing all other members in the new year. On Saturday, November 28, the committee is holding another Book Sale at 1 Binalong Street, Dalmeny from 8.30am until 1pm. Plenty of books are available for the holiday reading period, so come along and see if there are any books to your liking. All money raised goes toward The Smith Family Learning for Life program, so this is a worthwhile cause.

Narooma Quota members marked Remembrance Day on Wednesday, November 11 by laying wreaths at the Narooma and Duesbury Beach Commemorative Memorials.

Summer is set to look a little different this year, so Golden Circle and Surf Life Saving Australia have released a surf safety checklist to help Narooma and Bermagui residents share sunshine safely and still enjoy the water.

"Fifty-five per cent of drownings on the coast last year occurred more than 5km away from a lifesaving service.

This summer, we are asking Aussies to STOP before rushing in and check for rip currents, LOOK for other dangers and a patrolled location, and PLAN to stay safe and know your limitations and swim between the red and yellow flags," Shane Daw from Surf Life Saving Australia said.

"Additionally, we're asking beachgoers to practice social distancing and to stay at home if you feel unwell.

"By ticking items off our Share Sunshine Safely checklist and working together we can keep our beaches open and enjoy them safely this year," he said.

Golden Circle is also encouraging Narooma and Bermagui residents to jump on board the Sunny Saviours movement and celebrate the person in their lives who gets them outside, loves to play and brings the light and laughter to their day.

"After a tougher than normal year, it's important we take the time to honour people who brought joy and sunshine to our year. I'm calling on Narooma and Bermagui residents to shout out who their local sunny saviour is and how they brighten the lives of people around them by using #mysunnysaviour.

"What better way to finish off the year than by celebrating those moments of fun, happiness and positivity among Aussie family and friends, no matter how big or small."

Sunny Saviours is the first initiative for the newly formed partnership between Golden Circle® and Surf Life Saving Australia. As part of their commitment to the community and Surf Life Saving Australia, a $50,000 donation will be provided on behalf of Golden Circle® from Kraft Heinz Australia. The donation will support Surf Life Saving Australia to continue providing vital lifesaving services to the community during the upcoming summer season.
