Telstra has confirmed that vermin, most likely rats, caused a mobile phone outage on Kangaroo Island.

The Islander made some inquiries after receiving reports of Telstra mobile phone service outages across the Island last week.
The SA/NT media manager now says it was "vermin" chewing through fibre optic cables to a mobile phone tower that led to the service going down.
The good news it has been fixed and hence he could not find an issue when he checked at 3pm last Tuesday, December 15.
Poor Sandy Davis at the Parndana Post Office was impacted on at the busiest time of the year, while there were also reports of outages from the north coast to Haines in the south.
