Berry was invited to throw the opening pitch at Baseball Canberra's first women's all-star game on Tuesday night, celebrating the emergence of the women's competition which swelled from three to five teams this season.
"This government is a big supporter of women's sport and has a strong record of improving opportunities for women and girls to participate," Berry said.
Berry says government-funded sporting organisations have now achieved 40 per cent female representation on their boards, while changerooms across town are being upgraded to be female friendly.
Baseball Canberra general manager Josh Matavesi says the all-star game can help players press for national selection.
"Baseball Canberra has been hard at work creating pathways and opportunities for our female athletes to progress to the next level of competition," Matavesi said.
"We have so far created a women's development program which supports the skill development and game play to a high standard to be able to keep up with the bigger and stronger states.
"We have ensured that we have a development program, elite program and a national championship traveling team to recommence with."
